Only you can answer whether or not you would feel comfortable if your privacy was invaded and potentially weaponized against you in a 'professional' setting by someone in authority who can alter the course of your career. Or how you would have felt if that happened to you at 18, 19, 20 and you weren't a mature adult with a firm sense of personal boundaries.

On the other hand, I think we could also sympathize if an 18, 19, 20, 21 year old kid isn't fully mature enough to be able to speak truth to power, stand up for themselves in an unusual situation with an authority figure and not torch their career over a cell phone.

Also, why do they even need to find a new path again? They did nothing wrong.
