it is not only the posters in the forum....try listening to the members of the media and some of there comments about 26/55

Well that is par for the course whe things go bad the finger gets pointed at the leaders. Wheeler isn't what he once was and is pissy with the media. Scheifele has spent most of the year floating and not giving a damn in 2/3 of the ice. Not really all that hard to see why things fell apart given both kept getting plush assignments no matter how poor their play was and in 55's case how little he gave a shit.

The players that have busted their ass and have played well are clearly pissed and frustrated at what has gone on or been allowed to go on and you are hearing it now.

the look on hellys face from behind the bench/hallway to the dressing room wonder if he wants to see the ice for the rest of the season.
I wonder if he is going to ask to 'trade me right f-ing now'. Did he take their food money cause the team did not have his back!

And the Wheeler haters on here have nothing to offer other than the same tired commentary after each game regardless of what actually happened in the game. No wonder so many members have left this place.
Correct. The same commentary about 26 almost every game:
Repeated giveaways, blind passes, too long shifts, excuses to media, confrontational with reporters, zero leadership.

Even if Wheeler was still one of the top wingers in the game the Jets still wouldn't of made the playoffs. We have way more issues than just him. But for some reason you Wheeler haters make it seem like he is the only one.

Wheeler needs to take notes. This is what a leader says. Instead of a being big belligerent baby when he deals with the media. I’m starting question how he is behind the scenes in the locker room.
I do not think you need to question it is obvious he is an entitled , self absorbed albatross around this teams neck. Buy him out ffs!

He may not have to go, but a real captain would.
Plus, pretty telling when media doesn’t ask for him. They want the truth, not b.s.
It's interesting how things repeat. I recall the year that Ladd was a pending UFA and, as the "C" - Ladd NEVER spoke to the media that year. Very rarely anyway. Wheeler was the face of the franchise that year - always was available and appropriate with the media. It's almost like he sees the writing on the wall and is following Ladd's example from all those years ago-

Ehlers, Connor, Stastny and Morrissey leading the way as the have for a long time now.
Dubois gets a pass for playing injured.

I think the defense bar might be a pretty good indicator of who he might be referring to. Wheeler, Svech, Dillon, Stanley, Demelo, Toninato. I think you can excuse bottom 6 players like Toninato and Svechnikov because who's really expecting much given their usage?

So then you're left with Wheeler, Dillon, Stanley, and Demelo. Excuse Demelo given his usage with Morrissey?

Agreed. Despite Wheeler’s atrocious leadership and sub standard play, there are a handful on here clinging to their love of 26 from years ago. He can do no wrong in their eyes.
Brutal giveaway tonite, a regular occurrence.
Reduce his ice time or move him.
I'd be OK with him as 3RW as long as it's a scoring 3rd line and not centered by Lowry. He is a 4C on every NHL roster but ours. His contract is an issue but TNSE will not buy him out.

Svech may not have the skill to be on the top line, but he definitely has the chemistry with 80 and 81.

It all starts at the top. He is captain, he sets a poor example and is used in the wrong role and/or refuses to accept a new role. Therefore, it is not about' blind hatred' but it is about a player in decline that is miscast on this team.

Yeah, I'm kind of leaning to giving him the excuse of being ragdolled by shit coaches up and down the lineup. At the same time the expectation for every player should be 100% effort every night without excuses.

Somewhat torn on that one, but a brand new face on the team pouting about usage can't be considered the downfall of this roster. I'm making assumptions there though. Given his usage I don't see how Connor could possibly be pointing at him as being the reason why the team is shit. He definitely wasn't part of the solution tonight though.

If they are talking about Svechnikov then holy f***, talk about a scapegoat.

Glad to hear Connor making some comments since he often seems pretty passive and I was worried he was falling in to the Scheif-Wheels zone
It looked like Connor was falling under their spell while he was playing with them. But once he was moved off that line he has been nothing short of fantastic. It’s like a switch flipped on and he hasn’t looked back.

It would be really interesting to hear what Stastny would have to say about the difference in the team from when he first got traded here in 2017-18 and then coming back for the 2020-present season.

2017-18 - we were an exciting hungry team on the rise (pack of wolves)
Stastny left for 2 years and decided to come back. What changed between that up and coming team to where we are now?

Watching Nathan Smith play for the Coyotes who are getting blasted tonight, early days but it looks like he could be good player for them, skates well and goes to the net.

Buff. The loss of his influence on and off the ice wrecked this franchise.
