Guess this was the season the bubble of anticipation and potential that got busted for Niku and Poolman who both have obvious shortcomings, neither will ever be legit. top 4 NHL D men!

Nothing wrong with looking for the perfect goal 5v3 IMO but the way they went about it... I mean if you don't challenge the the box at all and just pass the puck around it on the perimeter, it's not just gonna happen. Taking no shots either made it one of the worst 5v3 I think I've ever seen. At that point I really couldn't see the game ending 3-0 for the Jets :D
If the Jets didn't win this game, that 5 on 3 would have been the defining moment not only of the game, but perhaps the season. That was the ugliest, ugliest, ugliest thing I've seen from Winnipeg for quite some time (I mean, they had Wheeler, Connor, Scheifele, Pionk, no excuse!)
But then they won so ...

Is this the best depth at fwd we’ve had? I’ll take Harkins, Appleton and our bottom 6 over Armia and any time except boosted by a td pick up. Where we are a bit weaker other than D Is our top 6 with no little.

Agreed. You pick up someone this summer to play with Morrissey on the top pair and the dcore is very different.

Morrissey x
Kulikov Pionk
Samberg Demelo

That is a pretty solid group especially if the x is someone like Hamilton or Dumba.
Then on top of that we have some good injury/ depth options. Niku, Poolman, hell even Sbisa has looked like a competent bottom pair guy. Not to mention if Heinola ''tweens" with us next year.

I feel like the Jets might package Niku somewhere though. For me he's in Petan-land (but, unlike Petan, I think he's an actual NHL player that will find a home somewhere). I've been saying for a while I see Niku's peak as a sheltered bottom pair guy that could be useful generating some offense and getting some PP time somewhere.

As for the PP, it really needs to be totally blown up.

I've said before, we should throw 2 looks at opponents and split the time more evenly between the 2 PP's.

I'd have a shooting PP and a PP who moves a lot and makes quick passes to open seams. Whichever PP is executing better or suits the opponents PK scheme is the one who plays more. That would also help in the playoffs where you are seeing your opponent 4+ times in a row.

Somewhere nice
Liking
When fully healthy

Eakins
Lowry
Copp
Perreault
Roslovic
Appleton
Harkin
As bottom 6
With 1 of them

Rotating to the top 6
To play with the
GREAT 5 :)

Always say we have the group of forwards that can toe to toe with anybody if complete
And the best goalie in the league.

That is not a lineup to miss a playoff.

The defense just need to play their part.
Kulikov is healthy for once and at the right moment when Jets need him the most.

Next year
Heinola mind and skills NHL ready hopefully he grows some muscles.
Samberg might not be top 4 to start.
But he will be good addition to the top 6.

Little, hope he does a mini Selanne that after having a long off. Gets rejuvinated and clock in 3-4 more good years after.

Yeah I also see Niku as a trade chip at this point. He just doesn't fit Maurice's template.

It's interesting, after reading the Washington Capital forum about this game, how down some of the Caps fans are with Ovechkin after the loss. So many people have him on such a pedestal, but it's eye-opening how they say he pretty one-dimensional and hinders the team when he's not scoring. I guess all fans eat their young when they're losing... I used to think it was just us!

We are lucky that Laine tries his best to play defense at such a young age.

Ovie is one of my favorite player and watched him. Caps my 2nd fav team.

He is all out offense and they gave him that free will to do that when he was starting out.

Sorry for comparing.

Just want to say we have a good #29 on our team.

Might as well through it to here. Sorry for being such a dumb dumb. I had a long hiatus and also wasn't really invested waking up at night to watch games, even if I even could. Wasn't so many sources then.

But while I'm resurrected to be a fan again, have been for a while now... could someone just simply explain how the system works. For someone who's been watching and is and an NHL fan. Wild all the division, conference and wild card talk. What's out goal right now? Who needs to lose, who needs to win, that get in even as a wild card?

Sorry if that is the most stupidest thing to hear as a question. Season is getting thinner by the day. Sure, winning after winning for us, it's good. I ain't that dumb but while we now stand, who should I chear for winning? Or who to lose? I know, it's quite a tight race, but in general. For us. What do we need (as well as winning?)?

Some might die of laughter there, but... all changes so fast. And I want to get in! Not in the dying part, just to know how is the best chances for Winnipeg to be in?

If Harkins still has any gear, sitting across the street....he should just send for it. Kid is a playa.
Good energy from all our lines, last nite
Pionk does a lot of the little things right
PP is still underachieving, bigly.
We are just terrible at faceoffs, in any zone

The top 3 teams from each division get in and then the next 2 teams with the best record in the conference get the wild card spots . In the Jets case it's the Central and Pacific divisions .

Rangers fans really crapped on pionk.
They really made us feel like we got robbed in that trade.

He is actually pretty good and fits in rather well here.
Ranger fans tried to make us feel bad about the trade and some fans let them without actually watching the guy play 1st. And agreed he is a great fit for the team. I love the offense he generates.

Ovie’s defence has always been well below the league average. It looks even worse when compared to his elite offence.

Love seeing a guy given a chance and making the most of it, I don’t think Harkins will be wearing moose horns again.

I think I noted in some of my Moose write-ups earlier in the year that Harkins was nearly always the best or among the best players on the ice with astonishing consistency. He's always been smart and quite creative with the puck and had excellent positioning and anticipation, but his skating and, I suspect, confidence held him back.

I don't see him as a young Wheeler particularly -- he doesn't have that extra gear that prime Wheels had that allowed him to blow by (and sometimes through) defenders at will but he's arguably on track to be a stronger overall player than Lowry, maybe a playmaking Copp with a scoring touch and endless motor. He's also very efficient in terms of the plays he makes and his angles in all three zones -- reminds me of Little in that respect, whose smarts and efficiency seem sometimes underrated. And he has a sneaky release also.

Have thought from the beginning of this season that he was too good for the AHL and would work his way onto the Jets, and glad to see it happening. He's a great kid, and Lowry could be a valuable trading chip moving forward.
