I'd also like to give a little props to Bitetto who had maybe the best game I can remember him playing. He was also a bit of an underlying metrics darling tonight. He aint that skilled, but he sure battled hard.
You know, that’s all I ask. Play to the best of your ability each night. Tonight proves what is possible even without ridiculous injuries.

Well I missed this one, playing Rummoli with the family. So I have no comments, except that's a huge win. But every one is big, down the stretch. Like reading the positive comments tonight. About the personnel and the atmosphere. Cheers.

Quick thoughts...

Connor-Scheifele-Wheeler: Best game this line's played in a long time. Scheifele was dominant. Connor gave the Caps fits. Wheeler was solid. I really liked their structure for breakouts in their own zone. They need to play like this consistently down the stretch to give the Jets any chance at the playoffs.

Ehlers-Eakin-xxxx: Another marvelous game from Ehlers. He tilted the ice positively on every shift. Great zone exits, flying through the neutral zone, effective in the offensive zone. Eakin was generally solid, but nothing special.

Harkins-Copp-Roslovic: Harkins continues to impress. Not only is he playing fast and smart with the puck, his positioning is outstanding in all zones. Really smart player. Effective board play, too. Copp was a real workhorse. I haven't been crazy about his play at C lately, but he was solid tonight. Roslovic had a very strong game. Great breakout plays from his zone, and really effective play in the offensive zone. He keeps getting better.

Bourque-Shore-Appleton: Seriously, what is Bourque's role? Jets go down a forward and they can't even play Bourque on the PK. He brings down the 4th line. Shore is smart - good on the PK. Appleton with a strong game. He's playing really fast, and strong on the puck.

7-4 Loved Kulikov's game. I won't mind if they re-sign him next year to a value contract for the 3rd pair. Pionk just continues to play a steady game, showing more offesnse as the season goes on. Very good season from him, all things considered.

88-12 Beaulieu was fine, which is an improvement. I've been trying to get a read on DeMelo. Tonight I really liked his sharp plays with the puck. He can handle pressure and makes the right plays with the puck.

2-3 Much better game from this pair than I expected. Bitetto was actually fine. Poolman steadier than last game.

Hellebuyck was very good, but he was also the author of some of his tough saves with some sloppy rebounds early. The Jets were actually pretty good defensively.

Panik is a dirty jerk.

"this is the best goalie performance I’ve seen in a very long time. Sometimes you have to just tip your cap."
I took that comment off the the GDT on the Caps' board from one of their fans...they used the word "Winlesspeg" in the title.
Quite a few posters wanting the coach gone (I mean, they had Trotz?) and I listened to the game at work on a Caps feed and they bragged up how good the team D was on the Jets team.

A' Lack' in the GDT & PGT...

One post...

Statistically impossible...

:sarcasm:

Got a lot going on with life right now. I'll be back to posting more in about a week or so. Besides, you all need a little break from my endless litany of $5 words and horrible pop culture references and bad jokes which I bring up every damn chance I get until someone bites :P

That Harkins looks like a real winner for us. At a very young age he can look significant and dominate out there. He's going to be really good. Roslovic is slowly coming around as well.

The difference between
10th and 20th place in the league is 6 points.

Man got to string some winning streak.

Like a long one to secure a spot.
Otherwise it will be a battle til the end for that last WC.

Also we can't afford a long losing streak if we alternate wins lost and so.

Go Jets Go it will not be boring to the finish .....

Great game , Helly played awesome , lots of guys played good . The PP has to start shooting the puck and not look for the perfect goal . PK was very good as well . Let's get a run going boys and beat the shit out of the Oilers on Saturday , damn Sportsnet on Saturday .

Panik needs to get a call for that slewfoot. Dangerous and dirty move.

Edit: I should add, he went in with one thing on his mind and that was to take someone out. He’s the same one who took the run at Wheeler the other night and I also seem to remember him doing something to us a couple of years ago when he was with Chicago but can’t remember what it was.

Nothing wrong with looking for the perfect goal 5v3 IMO but the way they went about it... I mean if you don't challenge the the box at all and just pass the puck around it on the perimeter, it's not just gonna happen. Taking no shots either made it one of the worst 5v3 I think I've ever seen. At that point I really couldn't see the game ending 3-0 for the Jets :D

If we keep playing like we did tonight the playoffs are a real possibility. I know there are a lot of doubters out there but getting down and dirty in a battle for a wildcard spot is kind of like its own little playoffs. Anyways everyone around us tonight sure seemed to be having a hell of a lot of fun.

This is the poor man’s playoffs and when you are chasing that last spot or two it adds to the drama. The highs and lows are magnified and it makes it more interesting.

Always amazing to be at a game when Helly gets a shutout, good game overall. Harkins is such an impressive player, the guy looks to be a full-time NHLer already.

No 702 for Ovi today!

Thought Eakin did well too. I think we're Wild Card bound.
