Quick thoughts...
Connor-Scheifele-Wheeler: Best game this line's played in a long time. Scheifele was dominant. Connor gave the Caps fits. Wheeler was solid. I really liked their structure for breakouts in their own zone. They need to play like this consistently down the stretch to give the Jets any chance at the playoffs.
Ehlers-Eakin-xxxx: Another marvelous game from Ehlers. He tilted the ice positively on every shift. Great zone exits, flying through the neutral zone, effective in the offensive zone. Eakin was generally solid, but nothing special.
Harkins-Copp-Roslovic: Harkins continues to impress. Not only is he playing fast and smart with the puck, his positioning is outstanding in all zones. Really smart player. Effective board play, too. Copp was a real workhorse. I haven't been crazy about his play at C lately, but he was solid tonight. Roslovic had a very strong game. Great breakout plays from his zone, and really effective play in the offensive zone. He keeps getting better.
Bourque-Shore-Appleton: Seriously, what is Bourque's role? Jets go down a forward and they can't even play Bourque on the PK. He brings down the 4th line. Shore is smart - good on the PK. Appleton with a strong game. He's playing really fast, and strong on the puck.
7-4 Loved Kulikov's game. I won't mind if they re-sign him next year to a value contract for the 3rd pair. Pionk just continues to play a steady game, showing more offesnse as the season goes on. Very good season from him, all things considered.
88-12 Beaulieu was fine, which is an improvement. I've been trying to get a read on DeMelo. Tonight I really liked his sharp plays with the puck. He can handle pressure and makes the right plays with the puck.
2-3 Much better game from this pair than I expected. Bitetto was actually fine. Poolman steadier than last game.
Hellebuyck was very good, but he was also the author of some of his tough saves with some sloppy rebounds early. The Jets were actually pretty good defensively.
Panik is a dirty jerk.
