ASP eliminated from SHL playoffs. Will be interesting to see how quick he comes over.
Holl should never ever get a call up. Legason should have been playing all these games over him, and the team would be in a closer spot to making playoffs. I actually like these pairs:Bring him over soon as possible this year to get games in...next year 100% needs to be given a roster spot in Detroit.. waive Holl, won't get claimed, then send him to GR..
If ASP struggles significantly call Holl back up..

Waive Gus while we’re at it and sign a real defenseman.
Sign Grzelcyk and/or Dante Fabbro.
Grzelcyk - Seider
Edvinsson - Johansson
Chiarot - ASP/Fabbro
Gus and Holl in the AHL.
I think that gives the team depth that’s not blocking youth and Seider finally has someone that can move the puck as a partner. Fabbro is a solid 4/5 guy that moves decently and plays the body. Both should come in around 9 mil combined, and moving one or both would be easy.

We need to give ASP a spot, not "earn" it only when cap wise it makes sense..
I'd sign/trade for one legit NHLer on the blueline only and then look to improve our top 6

Provorov. And I don’t think we need insurance for asp. Insurance is how we have ended up with all this dead weight. We need to give ASP a spot, not "earn" it only when cap wise it makes sense..

100%... play him
His insurance is Seider and Edvinsson...if they're not good enough to insulate him then the rebuild is not on track whatsoever...
So if ASP isn't good enough defensively, you want one of Mo or Ed babysitting him? We have already seen that with Mo babysitting Chiarot which only lessens our blueline. If ASP isn't good enough having him on the team won't make any of us any happier about how the Wings are doing. We will know where he stands after he actually plays in the pre season games, as the really good and ready players force their ways on, just as Mo and Ray did. If he doesn't force his way, then he should definitely start in GR.
Our blueline goal, cannot be this much youth all at once. Ed and AlJo will only be in their 2nd full seasons and if ASP makes it, that is 3 lower experience guys, plus still having Craprot which to me is a blueline not helping us make the playoffs. To me Aljo looks like he is what he is, with limited room to be better, and I think he is really a 5th-6th guy. I highly doubt ASP is ready to be a top 4 guy next year and Chiarot needs to badly be gone (I wish) but definitely no higher than 3rd pair.
If Holl is on the team even with injuries I will cry. I hope they just buy him out to be done with him.
If Steve's goal is not adding any good defenceman to our blueline either through trade or signing it will be a terrible frustrating offseason. Patience time has to be nearing its end.
Lane Hutson is 21, but was 20 for most of the season. I seriously hope we don't do this over ripening nonsense with Sandin-Pelikka. When Yzerman fired Lalonde, he made it clear he expects the team to compete for playoff spots. Putting ASP in Grand Rapids would be really bad sign given the state of our defense. The only way I could see sending him down would be if he really struggled, but he's been playing against men in a very competitive league and thriving.Think the plan is to upgrade the defence from UFA market, to push Chiarot to lesser role 2nd/3rd pair. That would really help us. Chiarot is just fine against lesser competition, but not a 1st pair level of guy.
And for Pellikka, I think a big role at Griffins would do great things for him. Captain Jonathan Pudas still was the 1st PP QB for Skellefteå, Pellikka didn't have that main role. He should get that for one full season at GR, and then hopefully jump to NHL.
SY had always mentioned that if some of the marquee prospects didn't cut it at top 9 F or top 4 D the plan is to ensure they get plenty of meaning minutes until they are ready for it, so unless ASP has a realgud showing in the AHL playoff run and an awesome training camp, he will be in GR for next season, or at least until they deem he is ready.Think the plan is to upgrade the defence from UFA market, to push Chiarot to lesser role 2nd/3rd pair. This lineup is desperate for skill, not sure why anyone would expect Sandin-Pelikka in Grand Rapids next year. It was one thing to do that when you had a team that was a favorite to win a Cup, we really need to take that next step and make the playoffs. That becomes much easier if ASP is a Quinn Hughes, Erik Karlsson, Lane Hutson type of offensive threat.SY had always mentioned that if some of the marquee prospects didn't cut it at top 9 F or top 4 D the plan is to ensure they get plenty of meaning minutes until they are ready for it, so unless ASP has a realgud showing in the AHL playoff run and an awesome training camp, he will be in GR for next season, or at least until they deem he is ready.
Even if he is ready, SY I suspect still will plan around him being at GR for the year (Maybe Tuo or Holl stays on the wings opening day), but make or leave space (like Kasper this year) for him, or any of the yutes showing good.

I agree, but knowing the SY MO, ASP will have to show he is ready and the brass agrees, then they will make space or leave it open for him even he if starts the season in GR, just like Kasper this season. This lineup is desperate for skill, not sure why anyone would expect Sandin-Pelikka in Grand Rapids next year. I was hopping ASP with Wings next season, but I have to agree with you about season in GR, maybe call for 5-8 games or so. Yzerman needs to bring veteran defansman, that still good to fix this defence , should of done it 3 seasons ago.Think the plan is to upgrade the defence from UFA market, to push Chiarot to lesser role 2nd/3rd pair. No the idea partner for asp is simon edvinsson. Big, can skate, good hockey iq, long reach. That's definitely the most likely and then they just need to find someone to play with seider.Ideal partner for ASP will be big physical stay home defansman jonathan Ericsson type.
Looking forward Ed and Mo should be our first pair , then your have ASP and some one elseNo the idea partner for asp is simon edvinsson. Big, can skate, good hockey iq, long reach. That's definitely the most likely and then they just need to find someone to play with seider.
He's had plenty of defensive struggles though. The only way I could see sending him down would be if he really struggled, but he's been playing against men in a very competitive league and thriving.
