Where? Anytime I watch him play he holds his own defensively and I've watched quite a few of his games. He's had plenty of defensive struggles though.

That's obviously not preventing anyone from playing defense for the Wings...He's had plenty of defensive struggles though.
Pretty sure the poster you are replying to is Ken Holland's burner account.Where? Anytime I watch him play he holds his own defensively and I've watched quite a few of his games.
Can you elaborate? He’s a 20 year old defenseman who played a big role on a pro team, so he’s going to make mistakes, but is there something you’ve seen that he routinely struggles with defensively? I’ve always found him surprisingly stable and rugged (for his size) on defense, but my full game viewings have mostly been limited to the WJC.He's had plenty of defensive struggles though.
No, he is just the guy, whose clips you usually post in this thread for circle jerk purposes. It is safe to say that if somebody saw a lot of ASP, it’s him not youPretty sure the poster you are replying to is Ken Holland's burner account.
ASP rarely plays PPQB. He’s in the Ovechkin spot, sometimes slightly higher. Anyone that thinks he’s PPQB has probably rarely seen him play.Think the plan is to upgrade the defence from UFA market, to push Chiarot to lesser role 2nd/3rd pair. That would really help us. Chiarot is just fine against lesser competition, but not a 1st pair level of guy.
And for Pellikka, I think a big role at Griffins would do great things for him. Captain Jonathan Pudas still was the 1st PP QB for Skellefteå, Pellikka didn't have that main role. He should get that for one full season at GR, and then hopefully jump to NHL.
Better splitting Ed and Mo up and having one of them on the ice for 50 mins a night. Pairing them together and having both of them off the ice for 35 mins a night isn’t their best use. They can each hold their own. Give them a partner (AlJo for Ed) and let them cook. All we need is a LHD partner for Mo. Let ASP play 3rd pairing and 1PP for 18 mins a night.Looking forward Ed and Mo should be our first pair , then your have ASP and some one else

Would the Wings ice two defensemen on the powerplay if this is the case?ASP rarely plays PPQB. He’s in the Ovechkin spot, sometimes slightly higher. Anyone that thinks he’s PPQB has probably rarely seen him play.
if we are talking about next season, sure, but 3-4 years from now that D will be very expensive. You want Seider to have someone much better than Chiarot, you have to pay, both Ed and ASP will be pricey alsoBetter splitting Ed and Mo up and having one of them on the ice for 50 mins a night. Mostly what you'd expect from a young guy against pro players. He's on the smaller side and sometimes gets outbattled. He's not a blazing fast skater so occasionally gets burned. Some slightly naive plays with the puck that gets him into trouble. Can you elaborate? A small word of caution on an otherwise exceptional prospect shouldn't be cause for this.Pretty sure the poster you are replying to is Ken Holland's burner account.
Nobody thinks Chiarot is Mo’s partner in 3-4 years, not even his wife.if we are talking about next season, sure, but 3-4 years from now that D will be very expensive. You want Seider to have someone much better than Chiarot, you have to pay, both Ed and ASP will be pricey also
I was talking about Seider and Ed on the same line , then ASP with big stay home physical defansman and that is I think our top 4 should look like in 3-4 years.Nobody thinks Chiarot is Mo’s partner in 3-4 years, not even his wife.
Yeah I disagree.I was talking about Seider and Ed on the same line , then ASP with big stay home physical defansman and that is I think our top 4 should look like in 3-4 years.
Could be that . But I believe ASP will be smartest guy on ice when he joins the team and keep him on the third pair is not the best . It's all depends on progress our entire d.Yeah I disagree.
XXX - Seider
Ed - AlJo
XXX - ASP
Seider 25 mins a night (PP/PK)
Ed 25 (PP/PK)
XXX1 20 (PK)
AlJo 20 (PK)
ASP 18 (PP)
XXX 12
Put your aces in their places. ASP biggest value is PP1. Maximize his ice time there.
I agree. Pair him with Ed. Let them have the Swedish connection. Then in key moments to hold leads put simon and mo together.Could be that . He's rarely had any time in the Ovie spot this season. He's had much more time walking the blue line.ASP rarely plays PPQB. He’s in the Ovechkin spot, sometimes slightly higher. Anyone that thinks he’s PPQB has probably rarely seen him play.
1a.) AlJo-Seiderwonder how aljo would do with seider
That's what I thought too, but hadn't watched enough to contradict someone. Sure he frequently would walk around a guy from the blueline into the high slot or even into the Ovi office to take a shot. I felt like he was mostly at the blueline and cutting down rather than being stationed at the halfwall/circle.He's rarely had any time in the Ovie spot this season. He's had much more time walking the blue line.
1a.) AlJo-Seider
1b.) Ed-ASP
3.) Chiarot-Not Holl
Both top pairings can play 22-23 minutes a night. AlJo-Seider would probably have more defensive responsibilities and dzone starts. Ed-ASP would absolutely cook offensively. Steady play out of Chiarot and Not Holl would be huge. Maybe Buium-AnJo could end up being a good 3rd pairing in 2 years.
I do think it would be ideal if ASP can turn into a strong partner for Mo. I just worry about him trying to survive that workload. We task Seider with really tough minutes. And when you need a change of pace you end up running Ed-Seider, AlJo-ASP. Ed and Seider should end up being an absoluetely dominant pairing as they mature. Then AlJo-ASP is perhaps a little small, but fast and capable at moving the puck. Perhaps this setup works better at home where you get last change.wonder how aljo would do with seider
We need the beastmode pairing of Ed-Seider. We can get a LHD to play with Sandin-Pelikka.Yzerman's history as a GM, both NHL and national teams, is he typically has a L/R shooting defensive pairing. Although AlJo played his off-wing much of the season, that was likely by necessity, not by design.
Don't expect ASP to play with Seider. Edvinsson is more likely to be paired with ASP.
