When we’re talking about 4th line scrubs, the ability to skate actually does matter. If you’re going to suck, at least have the ability to occasionally skate into a goal like he did against Dallas.

No and I don't doubt for a second that he hasn't been great for NYR this year and maybe even last year.

At the same time, I know how it goes. I know that SOME fans sometimes get down on a player and then everyone seems to pile-on whether it's warranted or not - by those that watch the games and those that don't - and then the narrative goes all out of whack. Just like our GDT with Mittelstadt... he isn't producing but he isn't costing us defensively but just because he can't be the play driver on his line - people call him useless and want to put his ass to the moon. That's not the truth. He's on pace for a 44 point season (with practically ZERO PP time) which is down from the last 2 years but he's not a useless piece of garbage like a ton of people on here would have you believe. Every player has 'down' years where they aren't as good - happens to the best of them. Even the Breadman is only 2 points over PPG (59 pts in 57 gp) after putting up a whopping 120 points last year.

The rangers are a massive tire-fire this year. Most of their players are all having down years.

I will wait to see Lindgren and how he plays on Tuesday before suggesting this was a terrible trade. I've often suggested that slotting is huge and when you've got players playing too high in the lineup.

Hoping for the best and that subsequent moves are going to be made as well.

If we don’t make another move on defense, I won’t be as disappointed as not making a move for a 2C. If there is no legitimate 2C option out there, then it’s best to just wait for the offseason and go to playoffs with the current roster. We can get Seth Jones and have a very deep defense, but without a 2C we won’t go far in the playoffs. We will lose to teams like Dallas or Vegas for sure

Yeah, just like back in November-December - SOME people around here (geniuses, mostly ) kept suggesting that Devon Toews was terrible and he should have been traded and that his contract was god-awful.

What I need, is for these unbelievably, incredible hockey SAVANTS f***ing TEACH ME because I clearly need help evaluating this team.

Doesn't mean he might not make an impact. Nico Sturm only played 13/20 playoff games during the Cup year and had a moment or two. Same with Aube-Kubel (14/20) and even Newhook (12/20). I just see it as a depth puzzle piece add that keeps Wagner out of the line-up.

It was almost unanimously acknowledged that Toews was playing through an injury.

No idea what you're banging on about.

Perhaps it's you who needs to watch Mittelstadt a bit more because he is and has been without question horrible for months.
