Lingren has been a plus player in his entire NHL career other than the rookie season when he was minus 6 in just 5 games played.playing 20 mins a night and is +1

Oh man you are soooooooooo that guy - I was off by 18 days!!Not to be that guy, but 27.
Maybe I missed it, but has Cmac said anything about the trade. I thought he usually puts out a few comments when he makes a deal.
Does this mean you're changing your name yo NOTENOUGHRYANTHINGS?How about you stupidlook at Makar's advanced stats when paired with a guy named Ryan compared to not paired with a guy named Ryan.
Best in league with a guy named Ryan by his side? You damn right he is.
Behind Quinn Hughes in every conceivable way when not paired with a guy named Ryan? You better f***ing believe it.
Guess what Lindgren brings to the table?
None of you know hockey so shut your mouths and sit down. And watch Ryan do Ryan things.
Guess he could be waiting until the 7th.Nothing that I’ve seen

I have wood every morningI'd much rather have wood.
I mean he certainly wasn't deployed like a bottom pairing defensman. I know his advanced stats suck his traditional stats are solid.Damn. Didn't realize that he may have been part of a bidding war for a mediocre bottom paring defenseman. That makes it all the better! Great win CMac!
as bad as he is now Lindgren has played in at worst the top 4 for 5 years. have a hard time believing nhl execs would call him a spare part.I don't understand why the 2 was included. Avs basically swapped their spare parts for another team's spare parts and somehow lost a 2nd round pick in the process.

NYR fan - not gonna pile on here much but Lindgren the last two years has been truly terrible and any boxcar stat where he's passable is because Fox carried his corpse around like a dead siamese twin.
Absolute warrior and tough as nails but with how small he is, it's already very apparent that he's not reverting to who he used to be.
good luck.
The thing is, I’m not quite sure where the advance stats suck thing comes from. Jackassfresh cards say they do. But then you actually look at them, and they aren’t really that bad. Maybe it’s because he was playing with Fox a bunch, And they should be better? I don’t know.I mean he certainly wasn't deployed like a bottom pairing defensman. not well, necessarily
Clearly Lindgren is a guy the Avs front office feel is a stylistic fit. The Avs put a huge emphasis on skating ability and also needed a guy who can PK, but there typically aren't many Dmen available who can do both. It's why Manson has been important to the Avs, given that he brings that physicality they otherwise lack, whilst also being able to skate in their system.
When looking for Dmen who can skate AND play physical/kill penalties the market is really thin. Lindgren ticks a lot of boxes.
That said its not without risk. The price paid is expensive in isolation, but this is clearly a sellers market and sometimes you just have to pay what it takes to get your guy.
It's also worth remembering that the 2025 draft is considered to be very weak so a 2025 2nd isn't that great of a pick. The difference between that 2nd and a 3rd is hardly anything in context, and yet this board would be far more positive if it was a 3rd rounder.
Another positive is the timing. Getting it done a week before the deadline allows some time to assess and work on another significant trade.
Ultimately what he does on the ice is what will matter, so let's wait and see.
If you look at the trade as the 2nd+4th being the Canes' picks then it effectively makes the two trades combined:
Rantanen
Parssinen
For
Necas
Drury
Lindgren (50%)
Vesey
Oh noooes not muh second round pickI still can’t get over the 2nd round pick being in this deal.
Not sure if anybody watched Bob M mid season review but he said there waive of talent drop around 8 and then another around 15-20. The other thing he said is the 2nd rounders in this draft are your typical 3rd rounders.
With the TDL coming, how do you think this affects the values of those late 1st rounders and 2nd rounders?
Do you see more 2026 picks or prospects being traded vs your normal TDL where it's mostly the looming draft to come?

Fun fact: the 4th in the Lindgren deal was acquired by trading Brännström weeks after signing him for free. The pro scouting department has fallen off a cliff this past year. CDH, Kylington, Brannstrom, Kelly, Mitts, Parssinen...all abject failures.
Oh noooes not muh second round pick
Picks are overrated. Especially in this year's draft which Bob Mackenzie said is awful after the top 20 as per this thread
Speculation: Thread 'Bob McKenzie (Weak Draft after 15-20 range)'

Fans tend to overvalue picks relative to their actual worth. The chance that a 2nd round pick turns into a 100 GP NHLer are pretty slim. How are they overrated? You can trade them to improve your roster. Or attach them to terrible players and rectify recurrent garbage trades. They are almost the centre piece of all major transactions.
