he thinks he can build a contender and build for the future at the same time
He's been trying to rebuild the farm for the last 2 years:

2023: He had 2 first round picks and used them both (Ritchie and Gulyayev)
2024: He had 1 first round picks used it (traded down and get 2 lesser players out of it)

In the past 2 years that's 3 first round picks used by CMac that won't help this team.

We had to add a pick for an older player with a higher salary, because Annunen sucks that much. He's not a good goalie. He's just big.

Wedgewood, while not a world-beater, is what he is. He's about the most backup-y backup goalie out there and knows his role.

Now trade f***ing Fourgiev for Blackwood and be done with this debacle

Juice wasn't good so I get it, we got a more reliable backup out of it. The part of this that bothers me is that means Georgiev is still the starter unless wedgewood beats him out. If we were going for a goalie it's gotta be someone who can push Georgiev to become the starter again or lose the spot. I don't think wedgewood is that guy

The team must have just completely lost confidence in Annunen. This isn't a trade to fix the current goalie situation, it's a change up in hopes they can get someone in there they feel better about.

There may not be a fix to the goalie situation this season in the cards, and the potential of wasting another year of this core group sucks.

They need to go all in on signing Matt Davis, and if Nabakov can come over next year, maybe the goalie pool will look a little better.

Complete nothing type of trade, would have rather have given Kahkonen more then one start to see what he could do. These bandaid trades aren’t gonna get the team far or in the playoffs if it continues. We still have the worst tandem in the league. Rip the bandaid off and pay what it’s gonna cost to get a competent goalie.

I don’t think this is the answer, but they’re looking for .900 level goaltending.

They’re hemorrhaging points in net. I get trying to dumpster dive before looking for a real solution. Too early for teams to sell.
