Not saying it in a negative way, but the dude drove the buss last year offensively, and was fairly consistent.

I guess if anything, his standard for himself might be 50 goals now lol.

You definitely try him with MacKinnon, no reason not to.

If the standard is for him to be on that top line all year, then it’s too high though. I’m not sure I see Bednar playing him that many minutes, with the holes in his game.

I will say, I don’t really see a tremendous low-side here. Obviously he hasn’t lived up to his draft status, but he’s consistently paced around the 40/50 point mark in his career.

At worst he should be a playmaking winger on the 3rd line.

I am happy with this. Completely bury-able if need be. But I don't think it will be needed. I see a Nuke style redemption path. Remember, Nuke had zero goals in 73gp prior to coming to Colorado, and 9G in 153gp (fewer goals and more GP that someone quoted earlier in this thread for Drouin), with reported mental/consistency/effort issues.

I might end up wrong, of course....would not be the first time, or last. But I have reason to hope that being back with MacK will light a fire.

Mack likes to be in on those decisions. Plenty has been mentioned there.

What was interesting was it wasn't just a phone call. Cmac referred to him as an honorary member of the scouting team for a few days. I doubt MacK needed a few days to give his opinion on Drouin.

I can't help but think that CMac mentioned in purpose that Mack was part of the decision so that Drouin would know Mack vouched for him.

Bednar has to use this guy correctly. If he does, it will be successful.

Bednar loves mixing the lines up base upon the situation:
Majority of 1st and 2nd period:
Drouin- MacKinnon- Nichushkin
Lehkonen- Johansen- Rantenen

End of game/ important situation:
Lehkonen- MacKinnon- Rantenen
Colton- Johansen- Nichushkin

In my opinion we need a real 4C who can step up at the end of games and essentially play 3C if Colton is helping Johansen on the 2nd. Still need depth but Drouin can help this team.

I feel like Bednar is going to hate Drouin and love Colton, so JD will be relegated to either 3C (lol) or 4C. Colton will play 2LW a lot, unless Wood somehow forgets how to take stupid penalties and Bedsy promotes him. God I miss Landeskog.

Anyway, I imagine that he's very much going to get the Malgin treatment, unless he can somehow pull his head out of his ass and actually put in a solid effort on every shift.

Such great memories from the Moosehead days. Cmac said Mack was a driver in getting him here. I’m overjoyed with this signing. Could end up being the most undervalued signing of the year with a massive resurgence. COULD. But that 60% part of my brain and all the moosehead games I watched back in the day has me absolutely over the moon.

If ANYONE could make this dude top 6, 60p player it’s Mack. He f***in knew this when he pushed for him and with NO RISK AT ALL.

The thing is, we don't expect anything from Drouin. We just needed a skill guy/passenger in the top 6. He is going to thrive here, no doubt in my mind.

Drouin could flame out, or this could be Nuke 2.0.

At 825k, easily worth the gamble. I think the only downside to this is, assuming Drouin does flame out, is the Avs will probably anchor him to MacKinnon's wing all season long in an attempt to force it to work.

But I have a really hard time seeing it be that bad. MacKinnon and Lehkonen gave f***ing eRod a career year, I'd put money on Drouin having a good season this year.

And talk about a guy who would be dependent on staying in Colorado if things work out. It's the Nuke situation all over again if this move hits it's mark.

I do think it's kind of funny that these two were best buddies drafted 1 OA and 3 OA in the same year. One of them is the highest paid player in the league, the other makes 825k. Talks about walking different paths. I do fully believe Montreal f***ed Drouin's development though.
