If its not broken..

Kuemper seemed like a great goalie when watching Wilds, Georgiev with Rangers not so much.

This looks more like a risky move, Kuemper was solid when needed.

Georgiev is undoubtably a downgrade from Kuemper, but the Avalanche are banking on the fact goalies have generally thrived in their system the last few seasons. Look at Grubauer in 2021 vs 2022. Even Kuemper was coming off a down season (.907) before having a career season in 2022.

As others have said, a lot of the sting of losing Kuemper is taken away by how bad he was in the post-season. Not sure if it was related to the eye injury or it was just a tough stretch, but Colorado won a lot of playoff games in spite of him.

Some of it probably was due to the eye for sure especially in the Blues series but in reality Kuemper was lettin in some of those same goals all year long before he became a cyclops. Darcy Kuemper just never really liked comfortable playing behind this team except for maybe a few weeks this year. I can count on one hand games this season where if it werent for him the Avs would lose and im missing a pinky on one of my hands.

Wouldn’t a lot of goalies allow a lot of goals from that area? It looks like his red zone is expanding further than you’d like to see though.

Interesting that he’s stonewalling teams right in front of the net.

Wonder how that's gonna look with the Avs colors. Looks like it's just silver

Think it might look cool. I think it looks better when the helmet has a bit of contrast, instead of trying to match the primary color of the jersey.

Also matches the silver/gray stripe at the top and bottom of both the home and away jerseys. Especially the home darks where the stripe is more pronounced.
