Heck of a game he had last night against his old team. Loved the celly.

He has been really good so far this season and I'm not only talking about his 4-0-1 record. I really can't remember him letting in a bad goal. I know some of you didn't like the OT goal but I didn't have an issue with it. It was a heck of a shot.

He adjusted to the team really fast. Hope he keeps it up.

Also had no idea that Ranger fans hated Georgie so much. Don't even really understand it... anyone know why?
I'm just curious. Can anyone explain why Rangers fans hate George so much? Is it really because he punched that scumbag DeAngelo? If so they need to move the f*** on.
I adopted the Rangers as my 2nd team after they drafted Kakko, but had already been keeping my eye on them a bit because of Georgiev (because he departed to NY from TPS). And I can say that the level of hate Georgiev gets is unwarranted in my opinion. I do get the reasons why a lot of fans disliked him, or at the very least wanted the parties to part ways.

A multitude of factors, but obviously mostly comes down to performance. He simply wasn't good enough. Now partly, this is because Rangers have been entitled going from Hank to Shesty, so god tier goaltending is the norm at the Garden. And Georgiev didn't live up to that standard. And had plenty of awful games as well. Then you add in the TDA-scandal, and some rumours about him being isolated in the locker room, people start to draw conclusions. Like the fact that he's pissed and jealous for Shesty because he's not smiling and hugging him after games, just doing a fist bump. Because some members of the team are not following him in social media etc.

Probably a bit of truth in all of that, but I think the hate from some is unwarranted in its magnitude. But with a large fanbase, you get a variety of opinions I guess. Not everyone in New York hated Georgiev, but I think in the end everyone knew that it was for the best to move on.

The nice thing is, he certainly seems to have found his place here. So far so good.

Even if he only ends up average it would be a massive win for Colorado. Absolutely huge to have an average goaltender at that cap hit for 3 years.

If he ends up being good, this contract becomes the best deal on the Avs.

I don’t want to get too excited yet, because he clearly had more motivation for that NY game than normal, but there’s a lot to like so far.

As for him not being happy being a backup in New York, good. Nobody should be excited to take a back seat. I want players who want to be difference makers. It’s nice to say you root for your goalie partner, but as a former goalie I really just wanted to play every game. The only thing I was thinking about when the other guy was in goal, was ‘that’s my net.’

If he keeps playing like that then both the trade AND the contract are absolute steals.
NYR was going to let him walk like WSH did with Samsonov. The trade was always going to be a win for the Rangers.

Look at how desperate Toronto was with Matt Murray. The Avs struck first. And we got a strike! Or a hit? I guess it depends on if we're fighting, bowling, pitching or hitting....

The point being, trades don't exist in a two team vacuum.
