Wonder if Helleson will leave too watching so many of his teammates sign.

BC will still have plenty of talent (Gasseau might end up there next season)... don't see that impacting as much as the Avs' lack of depth for the Eagles.

It's a big talent drain for sure, but BC usually recruits well, so it may not be that bad for them. I just don't see Helleson being ready yet for that next step. It might be the Avs who say no to an ELC this year.
It would probably be best for his development to stay at BC another year to be THE guy on D and develop his offense some more.

With Kaut playing so well I'm interested to see if they can form some chemistry in Loveland. I think their styles will mesh well - Kaut is playing with much better aggression and can do the dirty work but plays with good pace and reading of the game.
Would be awesome if they can form some chemistry this year so we can just plug them into the lineup next year:

Landeskog ------ Mackinnon -- Rantanen
Burakovsky -------- Kadri ------- Donskoi
Nichuskin -------- Newhook --- Kaut
Compher/Bowers -- Jost ------- O'Connor

(Lineup assumes that Seattle take Graves and we can't resign Saad).

He signed his contract as a 20 year old. Same as Makar. They burn that first year once they sign at that age.

Past March 1st, contracts can be signed for the following year instead of the current year... so it could have been forced to start next year.

I agree but what I saw from him, WJC and BC, he’s ready fir the next step

I've been one of his tirepumpers forever... I just think he has the ability to impact more in the offensive zone. College will allow him to work on that more than the AHL and trying to just keep afloat in professional hockey. There is no need to rush him, and he's flashing his potential... don't overwhelm him too quickly.

I’d actually be fine with Helleson signing as long as he takes an ATO this year. Would work out the same from an ELC perspective since he’ll likely sign next spring and burn year one anyway. Sign him to an ATO now and his ELC will kick in next year.

The choice is his. Sakic won’t be begging him to sign since realistically he could use another year but if Helleson himself is adamant on turning pro give him an ATO and let all’s the kids play together.

Tell me, could you give me an explanation thanks :thumbu:
The amount of performance bonuses are usually draft pick slotted. Will be interesting to see how Boldy, Knight and York’s come out but 16th overall picks usually do not get the full 850k schedule A performance bonuses. Kaut also a 16 got 425k. Caulfield only got 850k in year 3.

So IF there was much negotiation here I’d say Newhook won it. I’m also curious to see the GP bonus threshholds and if they are attainable or not. A GP bonus is pretty common for NCAA signings. Jost and Makar got them.
