I wouldn't say steal, we played them pretty even tbh. But definitely the best G game so far this year.

While Vanicek was very good, I wouldn't say he stole the game since we still outplayed them. We're just used to losing these ones.

We did outplay them 5v5 but we also only scored one goal and gave up 2.5 xGA. Goaltending stole this game because the finishing wasn't there.

Wow. Definitely shows the limits of just looking at the numbers. Marino was awesome against some of the best players in the world.

I think it's that Marino was in our end for large portions of the game, so while he made some great defensive plays he wasn't generating much the other way today.

The team is probably good enough to keep us in contention until mid-season when they can hopefully punt Blackwood to a team in the Bedard derby and pick a real second goalie.

Funny, as I've made the joke that probably one of Toronto or Colorado will be in the market for a goalie by the deadline. Probably a goalie on an expiring contract that's stuck on a bad team, which I sarcastically suggested Blackwood.

What makes you think they'd go back to Blackwood. They ran with Blackwood when he was running. Then he had a stinker and they went back to Vanecek. They'll stay with Vanecek until he gives them a reason to swap. That's how this season is going to go.

Yeah I pretty much agree with the caveat if one of these guys actually goes on an 8-10 game run they might get a mulligan before losing the job.
