Confirmed with Link: Avs acquire Casey Mittelstadt for Bo Byram

Man, great day for the Avs to decide to make all these trades as I have been stuck in all day meetings in Vegas. At the end of the day, I think the team is better with these moves but man I hate to lose Bo! Great personality and player with a very large ceiling, but he was unlikely to reach it here due to other players in front of him.

I think Mittelstadt was a needed and great add. I like the feedback of a two-way type of center who can score and setup teammates I have been hearing during my readings. Also, getting rid of Blowhansen, was a huge move due to his crap play on the ice and it sounds like a lockerroom issue may have been setting in, but who knows. He must have drove guys like Cale and Nate nuts! :)

Still time for more trades, but at this point I am happy we still have our prospect pool intact as it would be great not to have to go back to the crap days of Smyth, Hannah and various after this window has closed.

Obviously there are people out there just looking at RyJo's production and thinking he was bringing quite a bit to the Avs. You have to watch the games boys not only the scoresheets.

I wonder if Toews and Makar are split up now. Otherwise the D pairings will be too top heavy.
I don't see how that changes... Byram was on the middle or bottom pairing for the vast majority of the time. Girard will likely pair with Walker... and from the recent weeks, Manson will move down with JMFJ to solidify the bottom pairing and take Byram's spot.

Bednar scoffs at your traditional pairings. I fully expect him to continue to swap all 6 Dmen around to account for whatever the team needs are for the current situation on the ice. I bet we'll see plenty of G - Makar and Toews Walker in the upcoming games.

We see a lot of those after special teams time and/or when feeding a different defensemen minutes (lately, Byram). I think we will mostly see G-Walker and then Manson gets a few occasional shifts with G or Toews to keep his minutes up and limit JMFJ.

I do hope the plan is to limit JJ's time, because his mistakes as of late are piling up. I wouldn't be opposed to getting a better #7 than Jones for the playoffs.

When it comes to the playoffs... yeah having better guys at the 6/7D or 4th line are nice, but they are not really necessary. You can go down the list of Cup winners and look at the those spots and see a lot of rather bad hockey players. Hell Cuminsky won a Cup with the Hawks. This is where it is okay to run your top guys into the ground. They'll do it and empty the whole tank. If we could get a cheap upgrade on JMFJ/Jones, sure. Just not terribly concerned about it either. Not with the top 4 the Avs have and Manson in an appropriate #5 role to step in occasionally.

Greetings fam. Thought this might be a nice time to pop back in here :)

Love this trade. It's a very logical move from a position of strength to fill the biggest need with a long-term solution.

With Behrens, Gulyayev, and Hanzel in the pipeline the team is still looking relatively strong at LHD organisationally without Byram, so he was a logical piece to move with an eye on the future.

Hope they're also looking at adding a 3rd pairing LHD to push JJ down but it's not a huge need and honestly there doesn't seem to be many great rental options this year at that position. I'd rather stand pat instead of adding pylons like Edmundson who can't skate and would just be Nemeth 2.0 on this team.
Good job out there yesterday, a lot of people eating crow on wheather you’d manage to round this team out…. Now quit browsing an Internet forum and shore up goaltending, defence depth and bottom six depth. You can come back to revel in your glory afterwards.

Ah...the days on this board when I pointed out how utterly horrible Cumiskey was and someone would always, always respond with this clip.
