Honestly, the Avs dont have the money for it but Stamkos would be such a perfect fit of a winger for Mitts. Reinhart too for that matter.

Another route that would be interesting. If the Avs traded Mikko for a heavy futures haul including along the lines of say Oliver Bonk + PHI 2024 1st + COL 2025 1st. A trade where they took back no salary at all for this upcoming year.

Sign Marchessault for ~$6M and re-sign Drouin for ~$4M. Marchessault could easily end up scoring 40 again next to Mittelstadt.

Stamkos and Marchessault are old and in contract years. Highly doubt they approach the numbers they put up this past season ever again.
Zero interest here they are headed for cliffs.

Could always ask him to take a one-year prove it deal and give him Cog's old deal.

I don't think he actually likes players with size.

That season started with a plethora of people here saying that we would never win a cup with Kadri as 2C nor with Compher as 3C!

You had to bring up the last part?

People were out to lunch on Kadri, I'll admit that, but JTC is a 3RW, don't care what is what, or who paid who what, or whatever the f***. That dude belongs on the 3rd line RW of a contending team. Maybe playing 2C in a pinch. Not making 5M to play 3C or low end 2C.

When you turn your most valuable, former top 4 pick, asset (non-core) and come up with a 33 y/o center pacing for around 30 pts this year, you kind of have to be proud of yourself as a GM.

What a move!!!!

Byram, Zellers and a 2nd for an aging Charlie Coyle + 5th rounder.

CMac school of business.
While I hate the result, most of us approved of the original move when it happened, and Mittelstadt actually looked like the right target for his first 30 games... what happened afterwards really bemuses me. The pro scouts probably should have foreseen some of his inconsistency but I'm really not sure how much to pin on management for what is a confusing drop-off by a young player who looked primed for a role on a better team.

Not liking the look of that second trade (loved the Zellers pick and he's exceeded expectations since) but let's see how Coyle looks for us.

Our pro scouting evaluation clearly isn't what it was anymore. Some huge misses the last couple of years that have cost the franchise. Wood and that contract; the Colton disappointment. The RyJo disaster that we had to pay to get out of; this #2 centre "fix" that cost us Byram and also cost us the 1st+Ritchie we just paid for Nelson to solve the issue. Ugly.
