I like that we have him this year but he's older than Kadri was when we let him walk.

What kind of contract is he looking for?

Statistically he has 2 maybe 3 good years left in the tank, if he wants 5-6 year term and paid like a 35 goal guy we gotta let him walk.

That should make his contract more palatable then what Kadri was asking for at the time though, no?

Haha this f***ing site is hilarious.

We've apparently been wasting years of Mack and Mak primes.

But also fawning over some prospect who may or may not have panned out.

Do you want to win it now or not? Ritchie doesn't help us at all right now.

CMac has massive cajones this year. Let's go.
People value futures too damn high. I'd prefer the Avs go for it and have zero futures than hold onto them and not try.

I like Cal Ritchie. I think he's going to have a long career in the NHL if he stays healthy in a middle-six role with a lot of his years likely playing in a 2nd line role.

That said, he

1) Never had the foot speed/overall skating the Avs require under Bednar which always made the pick interesting, and

2) was our best trade chip by far

If Nelson walks, obviously it stings but if it results in a cup, it is so worth it.

One more depth forward, please, and let's go to war.

I'll be honest here, I was nervous about Cal Ritchie. His NHL stint did not instill any sort of confidence in me.

I just don't think he would have fit well within this system. He's most likely going to do well on Long Island where they like to slow things down, but here, he was Newhook 2.0 in the making

Holy shit, what an awful trade.

We gave up more than Pittsburgh did for Marian Hossa, just to get a way inferior player. Nelson is above-average, but he looked f***ing awful in the Four Nations and IMHO doesn't tilt our team to a contender. And we gave up our future 2nd line centre in return with a ton of RFA years on top of that.

I immensely dislike this all around.

Do we want to trade Mitts now or we keep him at 3C?

If we trade him we have no middle 6 center for next year unless we keep Nelson. Now that Ritchie is gone we have no one possibly coming up either.

Agreed on this, but we need a another RD over a depth forward I believe.

Vegas has been good example of how to do this. You can hate them as much as you ever want, but the fact is they have been successful doing this. They "always" trade the first rounders away and concentrates on the current season and worry about the future later. They don't necessarily win that many cups, but they are almost without exception serious contenders.

Keep him. I still think Mitts has upside and has struggled this year. I think this makes his life a LOT easier.

Lol, he looked fine in the 4 nations.

lol, why are you constantly harping on how he looked in the 4Nations??

It’s a random 4 game sample with a bunch of guys with no structure.
