Not acknowledging that point% is a better reflection of teams records than pts is quite obtuse...
To be fair, it’s both good and bad. P% is constantly moving, so while it may demonstrate how a team HAS played, it’s not an indication that that’s how they’ll continue, or even that that’s how they’re currently playing.

Over the past month, the Avs have a better P% than all 3 of Dallas, Minnesota and Winnipeg. Yet they’re still behind all of them overall in P%.

I think it’s much better to break down teams in segments. Winnipeg was 16-3 at one point. They’re 7-7-1 since.

Basically, all the other central teams ahead are trending down, and the AVS the only one trending up. Question is, which teams will change moving forward.

We have the 9th best record in the Conference and that's a fact. Don't get fooled by the fact we played a lot more games than others. That's the point. We are not out of the wood, it's not the time to feel warm and fuzzy about the standings.
Believe me I am not about to start farting rainbows, just enjoying the fact that somehow they’re in third place despite the notion that I don’t think they’re a better team than the Stars. Something has to fundamentally change before I believe this team even has a chance at the Cup.

Even when they play at their best they aren't as dominant as they were in previous years and that's not gonna get better. We're going to fight for a wildcard spot until the end because we're a middle of the pack team now.

The biggest issue IMO is Bednar has the same game plan that he had 2-3 years ago when the depth was much better and that will be our downfall. We don't have the horses anymore to win with that style.

Our P% over the last 2 games is 100%. We're going to win the Presidents Trophy.

The 4 teams below us in the West have multiple games in hand and are only 2 or 3 points behind. Avs are far from being in a comfortable spot.

It's much better to be in a desperate state than be relaxed as we've seen the Bruins and Lightning choke with. Plus, that allows Bednar to play the stars for 30+ minutes a game. Win, win, and win for everyone.

ABSOLUTELY 100% on target.

They are not the 21-22 team. That was a special roster.

MacK is not the 23-24 NHL MVP player he was either.

That's why Makar has been asked to step up his game.

And Mitts is not Nazam Kadri. (And never will be.)

Just hope and pray that Nuke doesn't fail yet another urinalysis. This team needs him desperately.

We have the most 10 plus goal scorers in the NHL right now, and we’re still missing Drouin who would be on that list if he was healthy, not to mention Landy if we ever get him back anytime this season, that’s another weapon. Even a guy like Kiviranta has 7 goals right now.

The depth should be fine, we needed a goalie badly and we got 2 of them now. We simply just need to get all the injured players back and start playing better for 60 minutes. I’m not worried about the depth. We will also either get Landy back in the regular season or we won’t, and if not then CMac will use that cap space to improve the depth more.

Now that we fixed our goaltending, my only worry is the injuries. I hope it will stop sometime and won’t be all season long. I’m not saying we’ll win the cup this year, but if we finally get healthy and stay healthy, we can have a solid run

I'll take that bet. I predict the Avs will make the playoffs easily and maybe even win the central.

For all the talk of how great Minnesota started and being one of the top teams in the league, they are *checks notes* a whopping 2 points ahead of the Avs with only a game in hand.

Avs got the goaltending, now it's time to get going and I believe they will while also making additions to the roster as we progress.

I don't know what makes you think that at one point every player on the roster will be (or could realistically be) healthy. That will not happen and shouldn't be used to gauge how good the team is going to be down the line.

All the talk? Which website are you reading?

*They are four points ahead. Another way to look at it is that they are 10 games over .500 to the Avs 5. Still work to do.

Thats why I said I’m hoping they’ll eventually get healthy and stay healthy. It doesn’t necessarily has to be every single player being healthy, that never happens to any team, there will always be injuries, I’m just hoping no more long term injuries to few key players at the same time. One or two short term injuries here and there can be handled

I don’t think this team can grind their way to wins either. You could bring in Torts, it likely wouldn’t make a huge difference.

They’re not going to go anywhere with MacKinnon looking tired (but still effective) and Nichushkin continuing to sputter. I really do think they’ve gotta do something substantial to this roster and IMO that needs to include sending Nuke elsewhere. I know, I know…much easier said than done but this is a clearly fractious team and it’ll continue to be one so long as he’s in the room.

We had a shitstorm of troubles coming in from the doors and windows to start the season.

And we (they) have weathered it very well. Not that much poop left on the windowpanes.

Yeah most have games in hand but flipside is our schedule has been brutal. Yet we good.

So standings are what they are but where we are right now ain't a bad place to be... At all!

Nuke has 10 goals, 15 points in 18 games. If that’s sputtering we could use more of that

And yet his underlying stats and defensive game have been total shit. Being reasonably productive is still not good enough, when he’s on his game he’s a two-way force and that guy who simply doesn’t lose puck battles. He needs to be that guy again if the Avs are going to make a run.

And even then…something else is way off with this team, and I still think it’s because the room is way off.

I don’t want to hear about “pace,” that rarely means anything since players always hit hot and cold streaks.

Yes he’s been reasonably productive, he still isn’t playing well defensively, nor has he been good winning board battles or in terms of puck management.
