From what we've been reading, I doubt Henrique was even an option. CMac was looking for a longer term solution, probably means that if he was on Lindholm they had preliminary discussions on an extension.

They very much went with a no half measures approach to this deadline, and the team is poised to raise the Cup again as a result.

Just finished reading the Oiler forum game thread.

To be fair, it's a minority of them but I can't believe the number of EDM fans posting there who thought the obvious Hyman kick should have counted as a good goal. And they're serious. The refs screwed the Oilers again, to believe them.

I love the Avs (and Broncos and CU Buffs) and I know that sometimes love can blind us to reality.....but my God, I hope I'm never so stupidly, over the top, homeristic as those people.

Even Hyman knew it wouldn't count, he didn't even celebrate at first which I thought was weird until I saw the replay, and it all made sense

Sammy the only Avs defender below 50%, third line got caved in. Top guys were completely dominant.

Conversely, Oilers top line were the only ones with positive possession numbers. The third line of Kane-Henrique-Brown got ANNIHILATED out there.
The Oilers bottom six is just not good. It's a mix of soft, one dimensional players like McLeod and old farts who can't skate anymore like Perry and Henrique. Also hurts them tremendously that Evander Kane has had his worst season in years, quite possibly the worst of his career. My theory is that he's half-assing it due to not being given minutes with 97 or 29 anymore.

Honestly I knew a little about Mitts but the more I watch him I'm blown away that Buffalo was willing to trade him. The ROR light comparison is real. Guy just competes and never gives up. Very excited about him moving forward as the 2C.
Buffalo traded away ROR, he won elsewhere. They traded away Eichel, he won elsewhere. So yeah, they have an issue there.

Yikes if you can't admit that was a kick then there really isn't much that can be said. He literally looked at puck then swung his foot to kick it into the net. Even Hyman f***ing knew it, he had that look on his face of we'll be lucky if this counts.

Any of you brethren have the "deserve win" meter index here for today's game?

They've had great players, they've had good players, they've seldom had a real team though.

Freaking shame though, their fans have always seemed cool and knowledgeable to me too. Would love it if this trade ended up being great for both teams.

Even strength tonight:

Shot attempts 84-61 Avalanche
Shots 44-32 Avalanche
Scoring chances 46-29 Avalanche
High danger chances 26-13 Avalanche

I said it after last game, this team looks VERY similar to the 2022 Avs again. That is a top-5 analytical team in every major category they just played on the road and they quite clearly controlled the play while on the 3rd game of their Western Canada road trip.

Lol Oiler fans are blaming the refs once again for losing. I cant.

Anyways. Wow. that was the best game I seen live maybe ever.
After CMac gets Casey signed on for the next 6-7 yrs you have to get Walker deal done. This guy was amazing tonight and he was pretty damn good in Vancouver aswell. You cannot lose this guy. I almost dont care who you get rid of to make it happen just do it. Also, f*** Jared for giving him one shift in OT.

Depth is crazy good again

Walker on the 3rd pairing isn't fair

We’ve taken 160 shot attempts in the past two games against some decent competition in the Nucks and Oilers.

Avalanche hockey.

Sabre ownership and management has been the pitts since Pegula bought the team. He has no clue as to what he is doing and will not hire an experience real hockey GM/VP.

They might be better off, tbh.
He's so f***ing bad. One mistake per shift almost guaranteed. I don't know why he gets chance after chance. Maybe they are infatuated by his size but man, he is going to cost the Oilers games in the playoffs just like he and Ceci did last year.

What's insane is prior to the Walker goal the Oilers held an 18-12 shot advantage.

From that point on the Avs outshot the Oilers 32-14. Total domination.
