For whatever reason, Colton and Woods play their best with LOC. It's like Jekyll and Hyde for them.
Because he's the only one of them who knows how to play defense. Putting Parise on that line IMO is a mistake, because he's not good defensively at all. I'd try Trenin there honestly. Once (hopefully) Landeskog comes back, they can try Lehkonen there.

What I like the most so far is the compete level. He just plays the game and doesn't quit on the play. I will be very happy if we have a MacK, Mitts 1C/2C situation for many years.
He's playing on a good team for the 1st time in his NHL career. He's not the only Sabre who picked up their game after moving elsewhere.

I'm just hoping Bo Byram can pick the Sabres up and bring them taste of how a real NHL team operates.

The ONLY thing that concerns me about Mittelstadt is his foot speed from stop/starts. There were a couple of shifts tonight where Ryan McLeod stop-turned on him and Mittelstadt gave him so much space because he couldn't keep up.

I don't think he's going to ever improve that, but like ROR I don't think he'll have to so long as he perfects his angles, positioning, and keeps using that insane hockey IQ.

I wonder if practicing against MacK all the time will help with that as well

To be fair, McLeod is one of the best skaters in the league, the guy is an Av Pro Scout's wet dream

My first block class has a kid who is a diehard Oilers fan. He walks in every single day "Mr. Dahrouge I know you saw that Oilers win last night you closet Oilers fan Avs suck Oilers winning the cup." Literally every single day.

I can't wait for Monday. I might throw something at him honestly.
Throw like a 2022 AVS Stanley Cup picture at him.

Semi serious here lol

Man we dodged a huge bullet with Henrique. That guy was invisible and Mittelstadt looks awesome.
From what we've been reading, I doubt Henrique was even an option. CMac was looking for a longer term solution, probably means that if he was on Lindholm they had preliminary discussions on an extension.

I wish Byram well but if this was the result of losing him I'm very ok with it. I hope that both teams get what they are looking for moving forward. This was very much a "hockey" trade.

Mitts is a player. Having him behind 29 is something we haven't had in 2 years.

What a waste of skating ability McLeod is. Guy does nothing creative with the puck and is too weak to be a go-to-the-net style of player.

If MacKinnon did to Mittelstadt what McLeod did tonight, that puck would be in the back of the net.

I'm going to make him kiss the poster I have up of Landeskog hoisting the Stanley Cup before he's allowed to enter my class.

If we win another cup (or come even close), Byram can win a Norris in the future for all I care. This is what we need NOW.

Just finished reading the Oiler forum game thread.

To be fair, it's a minority of them but I can't believe the number of EDM fans posting there who thought the obvious Hyman kick should have counted as a good goal. And they're serious. The refs screwed the Oilers again, to believe them.

I love the Avs (and Broncos and CU Buffs) and I know that sometimes love can blind us to reality.....but my God, I hope I'm never so stupidly, over the top, homeristic as those people.
