i said this before, its easier to shut down a star player when the other 2 linemates are doing less than nothing. nobody even had to respect marner because they all knew he wasnt going to do anything but try to pass to matthews. and i love hyman but he wasnt the same hyman we have seen the past 2 seasons.
It would have been easy to move Willy up and Kerfoot up and at least have 1 dominate line .. Zach is a tropper but can't play on 1 leg .. mitch can't do it in hard and fast playoff games on top lines

Tell any player on any team that doesn't win a Stanley cup.

Why does McDavid and Drai not get hate for getting swept. Their franchise respects their stars.

They are getting their share. Go see Oilers board and to be fair they don't have the line up like we do

Their PP still one of the best.

I'm fine with getting rid of everyone on the team besides Matthews and hope to god that this years playoffs was an anomaly for him scoring wise.

1 goal in 7 games for the rocket winner is embarassing

Over the last 5 years matthews is pacing for around 62 points / 82 games when in the PO.

He has also been a no show in several elimination games.

Insane this guy has the 3rd highest cap hit but the shortest term of anyone in the top ~25.

He's either not clear on what it takes to win in the playoffs or he doesn't care.

That's not hate. That's calling it as it is.

Sure, but obviously Matthews can't do that in playoffs, can he?

He was scoring fine before the last 2 series, 40 goal pace and top 10 playoff goals per game all time. The last 2 series obviously give cause for concern but it's not like he hasn't shown that he can score in the playoffs against good teams before.

He's been good more often than he's been bad.

Hey wait a minute, wasn't there a different coach in the last 2 series?

If you subtract the last 2 seaons he has played 20 PO games. Talk about a tiny sample size.

He has paced for 62 points / 82 games in the PO. Thats fairly average.

Got to ask... mainly to be a dick so I totally acknowledge that ;)

All the crap you gave me and others about Dubas and Keefe... can you at least acknowledge that some of the points raised were legitimate warning signs?

I've been lukewarm on Keefe since the Columbus series. I liked what he did after he replaced Babcock but then he stopped doing that and started playing a boring system that just holds on to the puck as a gimmick. We played with much more speed and aggression in the post-Babcock year, that approach had a chance at outscoring our problems. He also didn't have time to show how stubborn he can be with his personel choices. Still better than Babcock but he's walked into a ton of unforced errors since then.

If we're playing a slower boring system, yeah the roster Dubas built isn't going to cut it. If it had a chance it would have been through forcing our advantages on to teams instead of talking about how you can win whatever kind of game the other team wants to play. They failed the moment they stopped dictating the pace and terms of the game. I don't know if the media got into their heads of over the quarantine break or what but they stepped away from the vision they kept talking about in the play-ins.

I was bored so I was looking up how many hits Matts has and I noticed he was 16th in voting last year for the Selke. One first place vote and 2 5ths lol but still

Could the fact he has played with Mitchy the last 2 playoffs factor into his lack of scoring? He was with Willy the first 3 years and seemed pretty good against Boston and Washington...although not in the game 7's against the Bruins.

Matthews should have a better side kick when Marner isn’t going. That’s on Keefe.
