Its amazing how many posters are continually trashing marner and yet our highest paid player with only 3 years left escapes virtually all criticism.

The guy completely checked out during the last couple games.

2021 game 7 = 1 assist
2020 game 5 = no points
2019 game 7 = no points
2018 game 7 = no points

When you demand to be paid the 3rd highest aav on the shortest term of anyone in the top ~25, you need to be a difference maker.

If matthews was on an 8 year deal he would be making more than mcdavid which is completely ridiculous.

The guy is not a team player in the slightest.

Matthews underachieved greatly in the close out games but Marner is on another level with his public meltdown on the PK. There’s no equivalency between the two.

In addition to generating zero offense in 3 close out games, an unforced error on the PK in Game 6 severely damaged the confidence of the team even if they rallied back eventually. Actively hurting the team.

Biebs is an International Pop singer and AM is a top Professional Hockey player. Huge differences in terms of celebrity status.

Auston Matthews has other plans and interests besides hockey. Before people get all weird about it. That is a good thing.

he clearly wants to be famous and do other things. Believe it or not. Staying in Toronto would be his best move. He is a star here. He has access to the music industry here.

in Arizona the security gaurd in his own building didn’t know who he was.

I’m sure being a no one in day to day life half the year and being a god the other half is pretty great.

Being a the best goal scorer in the nhl in the south is like being the starting JV qb in fame.

Matty probably stays for many reasons including. Access to fame.

There are lots and lots of differences between Kawhi and Matthews. Chief among them is that Kawhi is a winner and Matthews a loser.
