Mathews during the regular season could take over a game . I haven't seen that from him yet, I hope his ok health wise. He also doesn't have the same zip on his shot.

He's 100%. Throwing the body a fair amount as well.

I think Matthews actually is a better leader and team person than guys like McDavid, Draisaitl and Eichel who wear their frustration on their sleeves and seem to deflate their rooms with their bad body language and negativity.

The injury is in the pit of his stomach come playoffs. 5 games without scoring didn’t happen the entire regular season. Playoffs gets in his head likely. Not good

Idk, I don't think he's playing THAT badly. He's working hard along the boards, extremely conscious defensively. He's just not getting anything done offensively whatsoever. He's not getting any clean looks and he's not helping himself in that regard.

He was our best player against Columbus, Boston the 2nd time, and Washington. I'm not worried about him as a playoff performer, I'll defend him to the death to be honest. But I think this team goes where he goes and he's not having a good series.

I'm not sure he has that next gear. Doesn't seem to have the fire in his belly. Maybe his wrist is injured or something, but Matthews absent his shot is not enough.

Cannot even put into words how disappointing his performance has been.

It is beyond worse than anything I could have ever imagined. He looks no better than Pierre Engvall... in fact Engvall might look more dangerous.

Chugging and engaged games 1-4. Games 5-6 he physically hasn't looked good, I watched him closely tonight off the puck and visibly he looks slower, think something is up. Either way with the amount of ice time he is getting he has to find a way to produce.

Keefe isn't doing him many favours though, I said games ago try him with some different linemates cause what he has now clearly isn't working.

Win Rocket- disappeared in playoffs. Takes the shine off that. Lots wrong again like the last 4 years in playoffs with this the top 2 players imploding again.

There’s no reason for him to only have 1 goal in 6 games. It’s pathetic and far below expectations. By the nature of his position he’s probably safe from getting moved in a core shaking trade but he’s just as deserving as Marner to get moved.

Never again should he be compared to the great players of this game. He is not one of them. Never won anything in his life team-wise, and looks like that will be the case going forward.

Matthews has been a big disappointment...I hope he shows up in game 7, but he really needs another shooter on his line...Hyman and Marner ain't it...the Habs are swamping him, and giving the space to Hyman and Marner, but they can't finish.

Look at how mackinnon and rantanen dominated the blues. We can only dream of Matthews and Marner dominating a playoff series like that. And the kicker is that we're paying way more for these players.

After this series, there's no way I can put Matthews in the same tier as Draisatl, MacKinnon, etc. He's just not even close. While he is playing hard, he's showing he doesn't have that next gear.

That’s what I see. He’s coasting the most of any player on the ice, which seems unlike him based on the regular season but then I think back to the last four playoffs and remember how he’s just a mental weakling who, like his partner in crime, checks out when shit actually matters and the team needs him

He actually was member of the Swiss Cup Championship team in 2016.
I think that’s the modified checking and no slap shot league in Europe.
