So who else agrees that Matthews, Marner, and Thornton is currently the best line in the NHL? Seeing pictures like this is something I can not get enough of.

2019-2020 versus "East" division teams:

Auston Matthews: 14 goals in 22 games, 53 goal pace
David Pastrnak: 11 goals in 21 games, 43 goal pace
Alex Ovechkin: 12 goals in 23 games, 43 goal pace

All this bitching and moaning about divisions on the main boards. Auston would've ate in the east too

The main board people don't want us to put our playoff failures into context of tough divisions. They only want to talk about divisions now. They're spineless hypocrites without a semblance of good faith or reason.

You think Matthews previous seasons of 40, 34, 37, and 47 goals would be enough to prove that he's one of the top 3 best goal scorers in the NHL. So it's crazy that some people are trying to downplay his goal scoring this year because he's only doing that against the other Canadian teams.

if Matthews keeps this up, Matthews hart chances will largely depend on whether the oilers make the playoffs or not. If they do, then I feel mcdavid will win. If they don't,matthews would be the favourite.

not getting my hopes up, I will happy if he just wins the rocket.

Don't be angry. Just mock them.

Mackinnon hasn't really kept up this year. The Avs have been hit pretty hard with injuries and their Covid pause.

you wouldn't know it to listen to their fans...pretty arrogant bunch after having their tires pumped relentlessly the last couple of seasons.

Matthews is quickly making me reconsider Zeke's position that he is #1.

For 4 years Leaf fans have bemoaned that it takes 200ft of solid play to be a legit team and scoring is only part of the game.

If that is true in a team context, it has to be true evaluating players.

Matthews is superior as a 200ft player compared to McDavid and if he is in shouting distance to him in points I believe the nod goes to him.

I like the Avs, they have a lot to be happy with on their team. But they are also not shy about heaping praise on their own players. The write ups on guys like Duchene, O'Reilly and Barrie over the years...

Matthews is at 0.94 GPG pace, well ahead of everyone else right now. To put that in perspective, Mario had a season of 0.81 GPG in 2000/01, and Ovechkin's best season was 0.79GP as the best and second best GPG this century.

Matthews current pace, is the best since Mario in 95/96. Is he likely to keep up that kind of pace? Stay tuned, but if so, it will be the best goal scoring season by a player in a quarter century.

I eagerly look forward to the day this goes the way of Crosby vs Ovi and people just shut the f*** up about it. They play such different games that I don't think the question is even very interesting.

Off the top of my head Pastrnak and Stamkos have had similar paces through 20 games. If he hits ~30 in ~30 I'll make some noise.
