Can you blame Auston for saying enough is enough. This guy has been held, obstructed, hooked, hacked, slashed, and crosschecked with little to no punishment the other way. I'm glad he decided to take matters into his own hands. I'm even happier the way Bunting stepped in both times. Unlike that washed up supposed gritty winger we have on the fourth line.

That was after he had Lowry down and kneed him in the face earlier this year.

MacKinnon has cross checked guys and also cheap head shot on Nolan Patrick, nothing.

If I was Matthews I would just have a video compilation of all the 5k fines this year and have them explain how my cross check was worse or deserves a suspension when others didn't get any suspension. I'd also take the time to ask why I don't draw any penalties despite being hooked/held/slashed nightly.
Agreed. The Leafs need to pull together a bunch of videos because historically they have been screwed by the NHL on these. We have seen numerous times where other teams get away with nothing while Leafs players get the maximum.

He clearly does make contact with shoulder. Like he said. Primary contact is neck

Toronto needs to throw their weight around. BS suspension on Matthews? Revenue sharing check is a little short.

We all know Matthews will get suspended. Parros and his team are really not consistent and he hates the Leafs in general. The Spezza suspension proved that to me.

Not only were half of those plays worse than what Matthews did many of them were completely unprovoked. If those aren't suspensions I don't see how you can justify suspending Matthews at all. He'll get fined and anything more than that would be a joke really considering he has no prior history and he's constantly hacked at and held without any calls.

I’m going to not watch the next two games while Matthews is suspended and scrap all plans to purchase any NHL related memorabilia or tickets.

The NHL takes Toronto for granted and the shitty officiating is bad enough. This nonsense suspension is just icing on the cake.

It's been that way forever.

And I agree. There is nothing but unmitigated bias against them. and we are suckers for not understanding that the league will never, ever allow another Leaf cup. Nor another Canadian one either.

What grinds Leafs Nations’ gears the most is the way the league simultaneously treats this team and fanbase like the golden goose and the village idiot at the same time.

All well and good if you want to treat the market like some snide inside joke, but maybe have the integrity not to cash our cheques to float the beer league.

This season I went to the home opener because a friend had tickets, I proceeded to really not watch for the next 1-2 months

I have gone weeks at a time without watching a game this season without caring.

This has pissed me off and I suspect the 1st round playoff loss that is coming our way is likely going t be the straw that breaks the camel's back short of a massive change at management/president/club level.

The whole NHL product is so stale. Leafs included, with some exceptions like Auston Matthews. It’s a joke league strangled by a completely out of touch approach and hard, flat punitive cap. The Vegas All-Star game was so out of touch and irrelevant as a pop culture artifact.

The league is a joke. It's no secret that I don't have faith in management/GM and don't like the roster construction. Matthews/Marner have shouldered the load for the most part in making the team look great.

Twitter is just showing a string of clips with worse infractions than Matthews cross-check that resulted in a fine.

I am not turning on the tv again the rest of the season unless they reach the 2nd round out of protest.

I look at the Matthews suspension as a gift. The suspension affords him multiple days off. Will only play 2 games in 12 days. It's not the same duration as Marner's injury, but if Matthews returns as hot as Mitch did after his injury and rest, 60 may happen.

Marner had a month off and came back and posted nothing his first two games back, and then rattled off 43 points in his next 24. If Mitch can pot 17 goals (how on earth did that happen?) in 26 games after a month off, 34 should be able to dent the net 15 times in 21 after his mini-break.

Probably would not be shocked... but keeping that pace for 60 games would be almost unheard of (since the 80's I guess).

I'm more interested in when he hits 50 right now though!! He is only 5 away and these are the games for the rest of the month... does he come back gangsters or need a game or two to get back into it? I prefer he does it at home, but if that cannot be the way it falls, please let it be in Montreal 😉

So bear with me for a sec.

I was going back down memory lane all the way back to before the McDavid draft and there was a neat little thread called Value of Buffalo's 2015 1st round pick to Toronto. I remember the discussion getting a heated and a Sabres fan saying (paraphrase) "This is why everyone hates Leaf fans. We will at worst be getting a franchise center in Eichel while Leaf fans will be stuck begging other teams for that big number one center they'll never get."

Those threads are a gold mine. It just cheers me up.
