Ah thank god, another non serious injury that just happened to coincide with a scoring slump.Sounds like he will be back next game.
I am not trying to dismiss your point about where you think pro athletes are in todays world but you certainly dont seem to appreciate what it takes to get there and be one of the best.I’ll tell ya what type of captain he isn’t, matthews would never try and play every meaningless regular season game to get 70 goals then miss half the first rd because of sickness, he would always put the team before himself and rest
You bolded the wrong part of the post to reply to.Because it's the common sense, no brainer thing to do. I will be willing to bet that this is the same injury he was dealing with last year ìn the playoffs.
Imagine presenting him with this plan... He will give them the Patrick Roy walk outDoesn’t seem like a viable plan.
Leafs are not a good team on the ice or to watch without Matthew’s.
Just for bantering sake... Why not? Could save us some space on the cap to really make a run at the deadline?
Helps the guy get healthy - send him on a trip to somewhere nice, let him fully heal mentally and physically.
Huge boost in the playoffs... Could be the final hurrah for the Marner, Tavares, Matthews Era - Could go out with a bang?
Prevents future injury? Maybe this is the rest he needs... He has been playing at an abnormal pace and given us almost a decade of playoff appearances since his draft.
If someone told me in 2010 that in the near future the Leafs would have one of the best scorers in the League and make the playoffs almost 10 years in a row Id be pretty happy. I just hope this kid gets over whatever is ailing him because we need him.
We don't know what's wrong with him... whether he's suffered a bunch of separate injuries since last April, playoffs, training camp and November and Christmas or just one unresolved problem requiring surgery and a lengthy rehab.
I really don't want to see him suit up at the 4 Nations tournament.
