Yeah I hear ya.

I read that there might be a little tension between our Captain and management in regard to this injury situation. The team obviously needs him on the ice leading them into the playoffs, every player is nicked up this time of year, but somehow mostly all of them manage to dress and perform.

Look at Ovechkin he broke a bone in his leg 5 and a half weeks ago give or take. Just got the cast off, likely takes a needle and he's back on the ice. Why? Because he's the captain, because his teammates need him and because Wasington pay's a lot of money for his services.

So the point is, 34 wants to recover and make sure he's rested so he can wear the C on his USA uniform. Matthews makes what 13.4? no wonder there's a little tension!

Perhaps he has more confidence in winning the Bogus Tournament than progressing in the playoffs.

Have to pick you spots ... 4 Nations BT might be his choice.

O not that I don’t believe you, where do u recall reading the tension part? If so interesting. What I do know is matthews puts himself first before the team. He will play in the 4 nations cup come back get injured and put on IR again, I’m sure leaf management would be thrilled at that haha

This is where this is going. Then another first round exit. It’s sad how predictable everything with the leafs are.

Apparently he was a full participant at practice today.

If he comes back and plays the way he was before sitting out again, I won't be happy. If he's actually feeling good and close to 100 percent then great.

I felt the same way at the time. If they continue to flame out in the playoffs when he’s in his prime then do they really want to continue with an overpaid group of poor playoff performers led by Matthews. Now that’s he seems injury prone and a diminished version of the regular season scoring machine, it’s even more beneficial to the team that he’s on a shorter term deal.

LTIR him. VGK did it Stone. Bolts did it with Kucherov

why can't Leafs do the same thing? LTIR him till playoffs and use cap to ADD to the roster. We need a solid RHD and a center

he is out again tomorrow

But how else will we know about his toughness and gritty scenes that seem to only occur offscreen if the narrator doesn't tell us about them?

It's not March nor did he have surgery. I'm sure it will be something they could do at that point. It's way too early to shut down your franchise center for the season.

They've lost a lot of games lately and will likely lose as many more as they will win while the 13 mil is not in use.
