It’s nonsense that the injury can’t get worse with wear and tear because he played. And it got worse… and he had to stop playing.
Yeah because you know better than the team’s medical staff. What is the injury exactly ? Can you even answer that question. Plenty of injuries are painful to play through but that doesn’t mean the player is putting their career at risk by playing in discomfort. Half the players in the league play games during a season that way. If players couldn’t play when hurt we’d be watching the Marlies most night.

Just not a guy to get it done when it counts, like Vince Carter

This is the perfect comparison. He's a gutless skilled malcontent like Vince. The saddest part is that both were genetically gifted unlike smaller players. Just waiting for him to miss playoff games for stupid reasons like Vince...

I don't recall a citywide creative writing contest to explain away why Vince couldn't play though, so there's one difference between them.

Paper move? More like paper thin, am I right?!

He got his contract now we'll see if he can earn it.

Seems since he signed he takes more games off.

Maybe headed to the Malkin area code.
Several early career awards, and just an extremely good player since.
... he scored 70 just last season and has been injured most of this season. Kind of early to say his game is goinf in the direction of just a really good player.

Didn't I suggest could be headed that way?

There are other star players who had early success and didn't keep it up, some for injury like Cam Neely.

the team (obviously) looks worse without him and his 13.25 million dollars. We can't really do much offensively, and our pp sucks. We have one shooting threat, and it's negated by the fact that rielly is passing to him

from an entertainment standpoint, we either need him back ASAP, or he needs to sit for a long while and we need to make some moves rn

All we know is he had an injury that wouldn’t get worse with wear and tear, that eventually took him out of action because of in-game wear and tear that he couldn’t play through anymore, and has been out since December 20. So it didn’t get better or worse but it stopped him playing games? It’s not that any of us know more than the medical staff, it’s what the medical staff is saying doesn’t reflect what’s going on.

And what would you expect them to say ?

Normally, a team just says what the actual injury is, what the player is trying to play through and might outline rehab vs surgery timelines and they're considering both.

Wow. Won't see him Saturday or Sunday as well.

Only going by his last injury layoff which lasted about 3.5 weeks and wasn't effective in bringing him back to 100% health, if he took the same time off from December 20, he won't be back till at least the half way point of January.
