Everyone believes the world is flat? :help:

The fact that he was picking up sticks instead of engaging in the scrum is what makes him soft. Which wouldn't be as big a deal if the majority of the team wasn't the same. IMO, at his size and skill he needs to play more like a Lindros. Bring out the bull in a china shop once in a while.

Number of hits is a pretty useless stat.

Can you please enlighten us then, what constitutes a tough player?

How is it you quantify that?

If it's not at all about engaging physically, then what is it all about?

Can you give us examples of tough players?

I see Lindros mentioned. Is he the only one you consider tough?

A quick search disproves this theory.
At the time when Toronto was eliminated, Matthews was one of the most physically engaged players of the 16 teams.
What do I search to get this exactly? LOL

I agree if any of the 3 walk shanny must be fired
Shanny and Dubes should have been gone a few years ago .

The fact Shanny survived having his protege that he gambled on straight out f*** him......oof

You couldn't look any weaker as a leader. And now you're scrambling a month out from AMs NMC. Not an ideal Shaniplan.

Hits are not all equal. I put it in the same category as the xGF stuff because it depends on who is shooting the puck. How can a shot from home plate be the same for Kampf and Matthews? Same as the hits they count. Just bumping into a guy is not what I consider a hit. AM hit harder last year.

22 days to trade this generations Ovechkin ... tick tock ... this like everything else will have a very Leafy stink to it. Why cant Leaf fans have anything nice?
Any trade will come after July 1, but they have to have the framework in place to get it done as early in the month as po

If he is signing in Toronto they have to get the framework for an extension done early in July and they can’t be far apart going into training camp.

You will agree that soft players generally stay to the outside and have most of their events on the periphery.

This is the heat map for AM in the series he was not good in, see how concentrated these events are in front of the nets.

I wonder if the area in front of the nets is considered no-hit zones in the playoffs, or if they are the most contested and physically engaging areas....

Can anyone who understands hockey talk to that point.
Is the front of the net the soft area of the ice?

Matthews is not going to be traded unless he goes to management and says I’m leaving like Tkachuk. If he says nothing, he won’t be moved. Assume he has a NMC right now.
Matthews will either re-sign or walk. There is no middle.
No. He won’t walk, or I should say, with a competent management approach he won’t walk.

I'm sorry, but, i've never been of the opinion that any GM needs approval to make a deal/trade.
that is HIS job, and if he makes a good or bad one, that will impact if he has or loses that job.
No GM should have to run a deal by the president for approval, else, they are not really a GM

I get why teams want to trade after July 1st once the bonuses have been paid out but then Matthews/Marner would have to waive.

Two hits taken and no goals? If you could find a series he was good in, I wonder how it compares.

If the team can sign them they may give up more. Boston can’t give up McAvoy for one yr of Matthews.

Looks like natural stattrick. If you ever watch a game and follow their data inputs you’ll see they’re very generous.
For example, a guy can get the puck in the slot and take a shot but you know there’s a 0% chance of it going in the net, yet it’s counted as HD scoring chance.

Righr.. but thats why its split into zones to determine it.. which as anything else creates its own noise

GMs have bosses. Your range of autonomy will vary based on who your boss is and your personal performance.

Your position isn't based in reality. No GM gets full cart blanche. Some get more than others.

My guess he will be relieved of his duties next spring

Natural stat trick.

They have a ton of stats.
The most indicative thing to me, is the event heat map.

I want to compare what we see, what the player produces, and where the things happen on the ice.

For those wanting to compare it to Tampa series, it's essentially the same.

Thankfully, you can compare it with players you think are playing well.

Say, compare it to the Bolts players.
Or with Tkachuck/Barkov in round 2.

Or with others.

You realize how many teams win the Cup with their best players who don't hit as hard or as often as Matthews? It's quite a lot over the past decade.

Naw.

Look up the team, and then series stats.
Then go to individual heat map.
And select the player
Ok.. i need some help sadly.. do i go into players or teams along the top?
