Everyone here has assured me Dubas was the problem, Shanny is the best, and everything is fine.

These Tweets are clearly a lie.
Pretty sure they are both a problem. It was Dubas with the “heartfelt” moment that was probably the last straw in an already frayed relationship.

Not too many people are saying Shanahan is inoocent on all this, but the Leafs are better off without Dubas at GM.

They both should have been canned

Ask JT to waive.

If no, begin mini 2 year tank.
Matthews trade @50%
Marner 2 years @50%
Nylander trade
Brodie traded
Samsonov traded

Imagine that haul of young players high end picks.

Rebuild the team and identity by building from Defense and goaltender out.

Bring up and play the Marlies kids for 2-3 years and get a couple years of top 5 picks.

Build around Rielly, McCabe, Lily and Woll on the backend.

Buy bad contracts for picks for the next 2 years.

Upfront Knies, Robertson, Holmberg, Minten

I want it blown up. The core 4 model will never work. I don’t want multiple players making 11 million plus.

MacKinnon won a cup and signed for 12.6x8 a year ago. Why would Matty command that kind of money and why would a GM agree. Matty will sign for 5 years in order to set himself up for his next contract. I can see 13x5 but it is the Leafs so it could be higher.
on a 5 year deal modified no trade clause at most.............

Doesn't look like they are better off currently, hope that changes.

from what I've read here since Friday is most people think Shanahan is as much to blame or more than Dubas. Dubas has a large faction of disciples, Shanahan not so much. For the record I hope the president is fired asap once a new GM is selected.............

This is another GM who fits the description of what we want in a new GM saying this apparently. So it is the opinion of at least one GM, probably more.
or media fodder, Friedman is in the business of selling wolf tickets.............

I'd be ok with this but would prefer a re-tool. Marner, Kerfoot,Brodie, Holl, Murray, Bunting out

…but many of the quality GMs will want no part of the dysfunctional set up with Shanny above them blocking trades and airing dirty laundry to the media in the hardest market in the world.

You ate up Shanny's press conference cause it fits your narrative. Friedman does a lot of speculating, but this he is saying was said to him.

In the last few days more than ever, I've seen people run with their own narrative and if something came out that was against it, they just said "that is made up", crazy that adults do this.

If got news for you.... The Leafs Titanic hit the iceberg long ago, when they named Dubas as GM, and then he signed JT to $11 mil and put they Leafs into Cap Hell and non Cup competitiveness and the team been taking on water ever since and sinking. :wg:

Matthews and Marner have $11 mil contracts because JT got one and Leafs invested 1/2 their cap into only 4 forwards. The team has been shuffling deck chairs (depth players on cheap contracts) on a sinking ship trying to keep it a float ever since.

The Captain Dubas has already gone done with the ship, and has his firstmate Spezza alongside.

Were entering the life boat phase as to who will be salvaged and saved moving forward, and who will be tossed overboard into icy waters next.
Lol… I enjoyed reading that.

No… we’re the iceberg.

Dubas was the Titanic.

Go Leafs

I didn't eat anything grasshopper, I knew Dubas' plan of putting half the cap into 4 players would never work so yeah I'm happy he's gone, would have been a better day if they fired Shanny too, and if you go back you can read I said exactly that. Get your facts straight if you want to be considered credible...............

no doubt, but they probably wouldn't want the headache of being a GM in this market either......

it's a good point......because of the impending 34 contract, or do you trust ownership to replace a president, GM, and get these contracts dealt with in a month?

His series against Tampa was not great? 5 goals and 9 points in 6 games with very good defense?
It was very good but then he fell off the map in the next round and looked like he didn’t even want to be there

The Dubas situation changes everything. I'm at 50/50 he's gone by the draft, same with Marner.
Matthews most likely doesn’t give a dam who the GM is, it’s all about the money full stop

I don’t believe they is any of those 11 million dollars players left in the post season but we have 3 of them golfing

"he wants to stay (if he becomes the highest paid player in the league)"

Well, you have to assume that he's being genuine. So, If he'll take 12.7 for 5, do it now.

That leaves you with some work to do regarding Tavares and/or Marner, but at least that's taken care of.

The good thing that came out of the Kyle Dubas situation is that they offered him what they offered him he asked for more money and they let him go. Not only do I think this was MLSE taking a stand but also sending a message to the players as well, that if they think they'll fleece every dollar they can, it's not going to happen and they will get traded.

It was very good but then he fell off the map in the next round and looked like he didn’t even want to be there

He really fell of in game 3 when he hurt his hand, but yes overall that was a really bad series but one of the best goaltending performances plus getting hurt surely were the main reasons for it

I can't believe Dubas wanted a raise. LOL.

Hell, I can't believe Matthews wants a raise.

Is it really that tough to offer Matthews a contract without a G.M.?

Dubas screwed up originally. If there were 2 years left on Matthews contract, instead of one, they could sell him for a mint - and I'd be happy to see him go. Sounds like they're willing to do what they did years ago - give him everything he wants. How tough is that?

we'll find out short;y.......
