But Price is suppose to be in the same size pads, roughly speaking. The force perspective isn't that great, but I do agree, Vasi is a bigger man.

But those pads ARE oversized. By lots.
Vasi is interesting. Vezina calibre goalie. Clearly wore huge pads. Leafs generally feasted on him in playoffs despite hugeness. Supposedly scoring only went up because “small pads”.

By the by, if some of you could see what trappers used to look like….barely big enough to fit a baseball.

Pretty crazy that he’s ahead of Ovie this point in their careers. I didn’t think anyone was ever going to touch Ovie’s numbers. Hope he can reach 66+. Not likely. He needs 8 in 12 games. Probably fall a little short. But if he has another monster game in him you never know.

I still am not putting 70 past him. He's been really good at scoring in streaks all year. And he's been cold for a while.

He has 6 goals in his last 14 games. He's due for a hot streak.

There are 12 games left to the year. Here are some separate stretches of hot streaks he's been on this year:

13 goals in 12 games
15 goals in 11 games
15 goals in 12 games

Those are 3 completely separate stretches of games, no overlap.

He's sitting at 58 goals now. If he scores either 13 or 15 in his last 12 games, it gets him over 70.

Beautiful B.C.
"Matthews may have the argument as the better pure scorer at this point"
Remove "may" and "at this point" and you're correct.
"Matthews have the argument as the better pure scorer"

Alright, it's not great but I can see what you're going with.
Also remove the word "arguement" he simply is.
"Matthews have the as the better pure scorer"

Your version reminds me of an AI generated picture.

If I am not mistaken, Matthews is on pace to set a new record for most seasons with he could/would/is on pace for amazing numbers ;)

even if Auston gets 65, Ovechkins still more impressive because of eras
I mean its pretty obvious to anybody who watched both ,Its not only eras but the pure dominance and fear ovi used to put in defenders 1 on 1 , its not really close in terms of eye test at least , ovi was a bull in a china shop and all , that said Matthews still deserves his flowers , he is the best goalscorer since ovi no doubt

You said Matthews likely has 4 straight Rockets if he didn't get hurt/have surgery.

He scored 40 goals last season, while the Rocket winner scored 64.
He only had that lousy 40 goal season because he was hurt all season. If not he would have scored 60 +.

Actually he’s outdone OV raw and pace pretty much across the board, with thousands less minutes in PP time.

The elusive 65 goal mark is slowly slipping through his fingers. Not quite as fast as sand, but it is. I think he gets to 65, but does not surpass it, which continues to show how incredible Ovechkin's 65 goal season truly was in a low scoring year.

He will surpass it I think, but I don't think he will get 70. Schedule is not easy and teams are in playoff mode now, but I hope he proves me wrong.

In the first 7 seasons in NHL:

AM: 299 total goals, best season 60 goals.
AO: 339 total goals, best season 65 goals.

Yet somehow, "wouda/coulda/on pace" means AM somehow outdone AO...

Matthews currently has about 20 more goals in less games than Ovechkin had at the same point of his career.

Ovechkin spending almost twice as much on the powerplay in their first 7/8 seasons also entirely erases the difference in scoring levels, infact it was shown that considering this Ovechkin actually played in the slightly higher scoring environment (as a one way offensive winger instead of a two center).
