Worst in terms of standings. Habs were clearly the better team overall.
Let's not ignore MTL riding the titanic will of Price to the finals that year. Leafs had holes (and no Tavares that series), but would have handily won if not for him.

That’s at the very least comparable to Ovechkin. I know this is a higher scoring season but look at his lead over the rest of the league. You can absolutely argue it’s the best goal-scoring season since Lemieux potted 69.
Exactly and thats how it should be done. How far a guy is ahead of the pack

Hey, here's one for you; At least he'll be in the playoffs again this year.
As for the Habs, how's that rebuild coming along? Oh, another lottery pick this Summer you say. How many is that now?
And how is that in any way, shape or form answer the post you quoted ?

What's the point of making of making the playoffs just to lose in round one, except for one season where they lost in round two (but then they did not even get to round one in 2019-2020).

Think about, no Tavares, then no schiefele, then no chandler stephenson. Back to back to back no 1c’s against.

So, overall, in other words, the sum of the Habs team (including Price), beat the Maple Leafs. That was my point, exactly.

Tavares was the #1 C? And didn't they lead 3-1 even without him?

Scheifele ? FAFO...

Stephenson ? 35 pts in 51 games with Vegas that season, plus 6 point in 16 plaoff games before his injury. Quite a #1...

Matthews has scored the same goal against New Jersey so many times you'd think they'd have adjusted to it by now. Video coaches must be tearing their hair out.

Flipping through many game tonight but just had it on Leafs game…Matthews sitting 3 goals from 70 and they get PP, Matthews out there but off after 1 min….why wouldn’t you keep him out there to try and get him to 70? Game is meaningless at this point, Leafs playoff spot is locked up, etc
