He won’t because he missed a game, so it won’t technically be 50 in 50, because the county officially ended when he missed that game. It’s still a great achievement if he gets 50 by his own 50th game but it won’t count.
There are ‘rules’ to scoring records, some which seem harsh but are needed to have meaningful stats. I forget the season but Gretzky had a regular season scoring steak officially end at game 82 (or whatever it was that year) and it didn’t roll over to the following year even though he ran out of games before he stopped scoring. Like the 50 in 50 it’s just the way it is.
50 in 50 is purely about scoring 50 goals in the teams first 50 games, it has nothing to do with the player consecutively playing in those games.
