For tonight's game vs Germany

Platine : 268$ per ticket
Lower boll: 183$ per ticket
Mid boll: 143$ per ticket
Upper boll: 104$ per ticket

:shakehead

That would have been okay with me.

I still think NYE in Montreal would sell and so would the medal round. Put the rest in the new arena in Quebec City.

Typically the big thing is to have TWO medium size arenas as you have games going on concurrently. The Toronto / Hamilton is a great suggestion as they can support that. I am not sure Quebec City can (just not familiar with the arena situation there).

Those prices are ridiculous. The IIHF needs to get a handle on that. I don't mind a mild profit being made and covering expenses and all that, but those are NHL prices. These are amateur kids for crying out loud. Its not like the tix sales are paying pro salaries. In the AHL, you can get a family pack (4 tix, 4 dogs, 4 sodas) for $100.

it has not been priced out.

$65 / seat to see Russia play Sweden .... round robin hockey.

That is a fair price to see that caliber of hockey.

You don't get to go to arena's like the ACC for $15 bucks, lol.

Unfortunately in the GTA, they are used to NHL hockey (and for free). I have not paid to see an NHL game in Toronto .... well .... since ever.

However, those same business folks who can afford to go to the games won't, because they are not used to paying for hockey.

$65 a seat for a real game is a fair price...and if it was in Hamilton, the arena would have been 75% sold out.....or better.

You need a "major draw arena" for the play off games, which Montreal and Toronto provide. But you need a "secondary" city for the round robin games, which neither Montreal or Toronto will succumb themselves to be.

Montreal / Quebec City

or

Toronto / Hamilton would have worked....

But neither are as politically sexy as Toronto/Montreal.
Regardless of quality this is still junior hockey. $65 to watch two teams that aren't Canada is definitely too much. I'd love to know who this tournament's main demographic is. It's not families, after transportation, food and drink you're looking at $400 for a day out. It's certainly not fans of junior hockey. I have season tickets for my WHL team and I pay roughly $17 a game to sit at center ice in the lower bowl. So I guess they're targeting NHL fans? But why would they go see a junior tournament when they can watch their team next week? Especially when every game is on TV in HD. doesn't make sense.

If tickets were $25 for non Canadian games and $30-$40 for Canadian/elimination games they would sell out easily. I went in 2006 in Vancouver and 2012 in Calgary and both times I was able to get tickets for reasonable prices. I probably wouldn't bother going again in Canada due to the ridiculous prices. It would probably be cheaper to go to a WJHC in the USA or in Europe with the money you would save on tickets (If you were smart booking your flights and accommodation)

Yeah, the Ottawa attendance is crazy high. Canada's first game is listed as 102.6% attendance.

That was normal for Scotiabank Place at the time. It included standing room to bump it over 100%. Not surprising at all for Canada games.

Ticket packages for Ottawa sold out almost a year before the tournament. There were limited single seats released a bit before the tournament.

Attendance even at relegation round games in Ottawa was very good.

Ottawa was the end of the 'drive-for-five', so hype was over the top. Ottawa's also a junior hockey city, having two teams. Montreal has never been a junior hockey city, at least in recent memory.

Pricing was more reasonable, which helped. It wasn't cheap, but not crazy like this year.

Selling an average of 10,000 tickets isn't bad, but the fact that most of tickets bought are in the upper deck and the higher part of the lower bowl makes for a crowd that does not look very good on t.v.

Strange to me how Montreal has such a tough time with attendance in sports...at least compared with other similar sized cities in Canada/North America.

Impact, Alouettes, Expos.... all struggle(d) big time.

Cirque du Soleil eating up everyone's spending money over there? :dunno:

Montreal sports fans simply don't show up if they feel like they're getting robbed or the product isn't great.

It's not like Toronto where the Leafs can go a decade without winning a playoff series and they still sell out every game.

It's a message send to the IIHF: there is a limit amount of $$ people are willing to pay to watch hockey. 140$ for for junior games in the blue seats? 110$ for one game?

Come on...

Yup. That kind of money to see Canada kick the snot out of someone (could easily be 8-1) is a lot to ask.

I don't know what to say. I wish HC hadn't gotten so greedy but... live and learn.

Perhaps something good will come of this and it will trigger a new system that combines one big arena with a small one or two.

If it was Canada-USA, Canada-Russia, then okay. I would pay it. Canada-Germany is a little much, I agree.

I think, looking back, Ottawa will be seen as the pinnacle.

That is not going to happen, my friend. I am sure the IIHF gets their pound of flesh and they want the flesh as fat as possible.

What is the attendance issue? When the games are in Europe its like 2,000 - 3,000.

I know it is a lot to ask (money wise) but I hope the people of Montreal support the kids - especially during the rougher games.

That's insane. Can't blame anyone for not going..

Hockey Canada makes the money, not the Kids. I don't know much about Hockey Canada, but I'm guessing it has the same problems most charities have, with corporate costs and employee salaries leeching off the money that should be going to help kids play hockey.

Prices really killed it for me. But at the same time, I believe this tourney will have the most attendance avg when it all said and done all that while tickets are extremely expensive. Ottawa had a avg of 14,622 and this tourney is at 10,000. The bigger games and medal rounds should bump it up. At the same time, it is disappointing to see the empty seats, really hope USA Canada will be a sellout, so as medal round

I live in Montreal and was really looking forward to going to some games, but the cost is just way too much for me.

Go to a game and then go to :

Restaurant Phayathai
1235 Rue Guy Montréal

a few blocks away. Best food I ever had in my life.

And again, these numbers are total bullcrap. You can see the game for 32 dollars:
http://www.stubhub.com/iihf-world-junior-hockey-championship-tickets/9063699/

How computer illiterate are you Canadians if you don't know how to purchase tickets on StubHub. For christ's sake, I'm from Finland and even I know how to do it.

Seems to me that what you Canadians really need is not cheaper World Juniors tickets, but someone who can teach you how to use a computer.

Nice pick, love this place.

That blonde asian waitress is so hot.

LOL. It's been years and years for me. My ex and I use to go to 1000 Islands for the weekend and then drive to Montreal just to eat there and then drive back - we would do it both nights it was so good. The chicken cashew and Chicken Tom Yum Soup are to die for. Never had better food in my life.

I don't like crude stories so I will spare you the details but I use to get it off the charts spicy and getting back to the hotel in Gananoque was a challenge. God knows, it was a LONG drive on the 401.
