Really hoping the 18 WJ will be back in buffalo. Reasonable prices, I didn't buy a package, but I was able to go to a bunch of games and had a blast.

Hockey Canada, in particular the Montreal organizers, are a joke.

I was Lucky and someone i know gave me 5 pair of tickets for différent game and that is the only reason why i go because it is ridiculous the price they sell the ticket, my ticket for tonight are 165$ Each , who is gonna pay that to see canada destroy germany !! And i was told that they gave away a lot of ticket yesterday because Empty seats in the red does not look good for the tournament

Yes. This tournament needs to have a return to its roots - even if it is only for a year. Something small. Price it so it is accessible to everyone. Rebuild the demand.

I went to the 2011 Tournament in Buffalo and I had the time of my life. I would love to go again but I would never pay the current prices. It is not worth it when I can sit at home and watch it on my big HD TV.

Yeah the thing with NHL markets is for the price that the games are selling for why wouldn't a fan just save his money to go see a Habs or Leafs game and head to a bar or stay home to watch the game? HC really overestimated the demand for the WJC this year and hopefully they learn from this for 2017 but I have my doubts.

Yeah the organizers in Montreal from what I have heard are really inexperienced and weren't ready to handle a event like this. They barely advertised the games untill the December. If I heard it correctly lots of tickets are being given out for free now.

The only positive... The money goes towards grass roots hockey in Canada and that is a wonderful thing.

I would love to see an outdoor tournament one year.

Yes. For me tho, I would rather see the WJR's than a Leaf or Habs game. I just don't want to break the bank to do it. No one does.

Again, if they had done Toronto/Hamilton this year, they would have had all of Southern Ontario interested. Have the Canadian and medal round games in Toronto and price it accordingly. Have most of the other games in Hamilton and price it accordingly. It would have worked.

And likewise with Montreal and Quebec City. That approach would have sold out games no doubt. Montreal and Toronto are good places for the medal rounds. Round Robin games I'm not so certain.

A package for the nosebleeds in Toronto was over $600 each. I didn't bother looking at what better seats would have cost.

That is about $30 a piece - assuming 18 games = 10 round robin and 8 medal. Not that bad. But, as you said, they were nose bleeds.

Prices are too damn high. It's a shame. I really wanted to go as well.

Attendance figures actually show that people in Montreal are wiser.

You have to buy tickets to the WHOLE tournament?

Jeez, you'd think they could sell packages that are like 5-10 games or something. I'd have a real tough time dropping 600 bucks, especially around the Holidays, for nosebleed seats. Even if it does balance out to a reasonable per game price.

They should keep these in non NHL cities. Plenty of great places that don't have the luxury of an NHL team. Halifax was a great host

Add to that the impossibility to go to every games, and that explains why some customers were than impressed. Big boo to HC for asking such ridiculous prices.

Besides... I can say that advertising/marketing has been somewhat lackluster. That's what happen when an org barely knows its audience.

You don't market something in .Montreal the same way you do for Toronto (and for Smalltown Canada).

I didn't have to be like this. Just like with the Ontario example, have the Canadian and medal games in Montreal - with a few others sprinkled in - and have the other games in Quebec City.

If they had done this, I believe they would have sold out.

Selling packages has worked really well for them in the past. They tried it this year and it failed in Montreal.

They want big $$$$.

Keep in mind, there are also bragging rights. You have to believe the people at Hockey Canada love to boast to other countries how much they make hosting the tournament.

I'll keep the money and buy finals tix for next year instead.

I don't blame you if you live in Europe.

If you really wanted to go watch you can see the prices on stubhub are low:

You can see Finland-Slovakia today for $4.25 per ticket. $7-10 for other games including the US.

Canada vs. Germany - only $36 for upper deck center

Canada vs. Finland - $132 for 2 seats in the nosebleeds at regular price

Canada vs. USA - $150 per ticket for nosebleeds on stubhub

Basically the only game you pay big bucks for is the NYE game.

Seems ridiculous that you have to purchase tickets for the entire tournament. How many people can honestly free up that much time?

I'd love to go to a WJ game but I could never justify purchasing tickets to the entire tournament.

Prime seating in Montreal is $250 per ticket for TC games.

I know it is apples to oranges, but I paid less than a tenth of that in 1991 in Saskatoon. I am not saying we go back to that, but this used to be an affordable tourney for regular people. Now corporations buy them and the tix may or may not be used.

That is a disgrace when you consider what these games are supposed to stand for and that is grassroots hockey.

TSN has overhyped this tournament, and I think we are seeing a little bit of backlash. It has definitely lost some of its magic and appeal in recent years.

You don't. You can buy single game seats.

If you had 2 weeks off around Christmas, it is a blast.
