ATD 2020 Draft Thread V

  • I'd like the Renegades to have a spare capable of playing RW, so I'll grab them John Ogrodnick, RW/LW. I've never had Ogrodnick, he's one of those "slightly overrated because of 1980s numbers" scorers. But this is 140 picks later than he's ever gone and he actually looks really good compared to other offensive wingers right now, with the "can play both sides" thing a nice bonus.
  • Kenora has a spare center and a spare defenseman, so I should get them a spare winger. Nikolai Drozdetsky, RW/LW seems like the best option now. He has an excellent offensive record both in the soviet league and in international competition, although has a smaller international sample than one would like to see.

Drozdetsky is a RW only as far as I know. I might have drafted him otherwise.

Am I the only one that gets bummed out when the drafting/team building portion is completed? I enjoy this so damn much.

That said, here’s hoping for an awesome voting and participation turnout for the post-draft activities.

Guess I'll finish off the draft with 1948's Hart Trophy winner, Buddy O'Connor
He and Ronty were both in the running for the best offensive records left among those eligible for the IceCaps to select, but I didn’t need a small right shooting spare centre with Daniel Briere also sitting in the press box. Had my eye on him for forward depth from the very beginning, but in the end I didn’t have a spot for him. Glad he stays in the big draft.

I was afraid the 24th round would have a lot of in-no-way great players worth honoring, but I would classify only a minority as disappointing imo.

By my math...

15 greats! :)

14 good enough competitively/ to be remembered

11 ought not be in any ATD; too many better undrafteds

When did you say we're going to vote, Mr. Timberlake?

I have 4% power on my frayed smartphone recharge cable.

I have to wait until May 5th for my first paycheque post-virus 6-week unpaid sudden layoff.

If i ain't active around here, it's because of that.

I'd like to see more matchup commentary. In the past I've seen scoring lines compared to scoring lines, etc. But if this is a playoff, shouldn't we be looking at matchups and how the coaches would employ their lineups?

I'm going to drop Maruk and take Jacques Martin. Just heard an interview with Pronger who said Keenan was a motivator and not an x's and o's guy. Martin is, par excellence.
