By the way, in case anyone is wondering, no, not all my bios are going to be as long as the Lafleur and Roy bios, and no, I won't be doing these till June.
In fact, 23% of my work is already done. I have 1,165 pictures taken from books, scouting reports, and THN issues, and the Lafleur and Roy bios accounted for 265 of those. That means that on average, each bio will only be about 30% as long as those ones were. Doug Gilmour will be the only other epic bio, and by the time I'm done that one (my 5th). I'm 43% done and then I'll really be motoring.
Maybe now's a good time to share how I transcribe my bios, in case you don't know. I still type them. For a while I was using a voice to text program, but it frustrates me too often so I trust my hands better. I begin by scouring all my sources for passages, and when I find one, I take a picture with my phone. I collect these pictures in a big folder and sort them by player so that I can see all of them consecutively as I start transcribing.
I just open each picture one by one, and put it up on the screen, and start going. it's so much easier than having to look down at a book and back up at the screen over and over again. I recommend anyone does it this way. We all have phones with 13+MP cameras so anyone can do it. (I don't even type properly, I use a "hybrid hunt and peck" but find keys by memory, so my eyes rarely leave the screen. I type 87 WPM the wrong way, in case you're wondering, ha ha ha)
as a look ahead, I can tell you that the bios I look forward to the most are, by far, Phil Goyette and Al Arbour the player. The stuff I found on them is just outstanding and I can't wait to show you.
