ATD 2017 Draft Thread II

Time to review recent picks:

Baldy Northcott: Northcott doesn't have a bio here, shame because he reads as a very good player, good gritty guy for sure.

Hap Day: The pick ck26 traded up for with me. As I said Day would have been one of my choices for my pick had I kept 239.

Babe Pratt: Pratt would have been the other choice and I was leaning towards Pratt. Yet another strong pick toward seventies.

Igor Larionov: "The Professor"; Good pick, used to go higher than 241 in the past but 241 seems right for him. Lach-Hawerchuk-Larionov as a 1-2-3 centre punch is going to be a good 1.

Brad Mccrimmon: A guy I've always wanted to draft but have never had. Him as a partner for Niedermayer makes a lot of sense.

Doug Mohns: A name I was looking at as well, looks like he was listed as a D/LW but played more D than Left Wing so a good pick for your defense.

Bob Goldham: In back to back picks you did your 2nd pairing on defense, makes sense that you pick Goldham. He's a good 2nd pairing defenseman here for sure, he'll play the defense to Mohn's offense.

Ryan Suter: That was 4 defenseman in a row and for my money you could have got the best. As others have said for yrs. he's been among the top defensemen in real life.

Vladimir Lutchenko: You had ? about Lutchenko, JFA. If it makes you feel better he was #1 on my list that I sent to King Forsberg and Bench Brawl earlier today.

Anyway those are my thoughts on recent picks, I'm home now and am pretty ready to pick when my turn comes up.

Edmonton Express is otc until 7:36 PM EST. His trade with mark and stoneberg's team went through.

This pick might surprise people given I just nabbed two defensemen, but I moved up with an eye towards adding another strong offensive presence from the back-end and could not pass up the chance to give my team an elite #5/strong #4.

D Sergei Gonchar

Four top five Norris finishes, seven top tens and leading the NHL in defensive scoring twice, Gonchar will not look out of place on my D.

Good call. You're set with PP defensemen now.

When I took Pratt I was specifically looking for a PP guy and Gonchar & Mohns were two other strong considerations.

Awesome pick. He'll be the best 3rd pairing defender in the league, bar-none, IMO, as well as an elite PPQB.

Gonchar was on my list as well, as far as offensive defenseman go there are not many better than him at this stage of things.

Where are we guys? Another case of trade without updated op?

247. Markrander87 + Stoneberg - West Lafayette Lion Tamers
248. BenchBrawl - Montreal Canadiens
249. tony d - Toledo Goal Diggers
250. Leaf Lander - Toronto Maple Leafs

I'm at work Friday morning, just before 9am and in my 7 minutes of free time I have read some stuff but don't know how close our team is.

Maybe I'll have more time later in the morning to figure it out. OUT.

BB sent me this...

Montreal select Frank Fredrickson, C.Along with Trottier and Modano, this addition should provide Montreal with a very strong two-way center line on the first three lines.

There are few men in hockey who can get the best out of Fredrickson

Frank Fredrickson was about as fine a player as I've ever seen. He was fast, shifty, smart, and had a wonderful shot

Fredrickson, however, was a marked man all night and in spite of the fact that he was watched closely and given little chance to bore through he managed to notch two counters and was far more effective in the art of back-checking than his elusive rival.

The musclebound centre powered the Cougars to an upset Stanley Cup victory in 1925 over Montreal Canadiens

Although he weights 190 pounds he can play a full sixty minutes of hockey at top speed. He has inherited strength and endurance from his ancestors

together with Frank Fredrickson with his speed, weight and exceptional ability in shooting

They probably meant to say best of right?

The way it's written, it just means he's uncoachable. :dunno:

I fixed the OP. Can someone make a new thread right now and lock this one?

I am operating with one hand.

Alright with pick 249 Toledo goes back in time a little here.

We select defenseman Mike Grant.

Not much is known about Grant but from what is known he was one of the first stars in hockey. A good rushing defenseman who could play physical as well. Glad to have him on the team.

Leaf Lander has been notified on Facebook he's up. I'll be around until 10:30 Pm EST in case Pick 252 comes up.
