All GM's Please Note:

Due to personal reasons Wrigley is unable to participate in the remainder of the ATD. Please send all messages regarding Strathcona to EdmontonExpress, who will be going the rest of the way on his own.

Wrigley, we will miss you!
EdmontonExpress - good luck!

...hope that I can make him proud with a solid entry.

Since you got Firsov on your team, you should take the time to check ot this thread by Batis on HOH.

A night to remember!

Time to review recent picks:

Jonathan Toews: Was wondering when he'd go. Of the recently announced top 100 players in NHL history Toews may be one of the more controversial. Still I like the guy and think he'll be a good fit with Gainey on your 3rd line.

Scotty Bowman: Our first coach to go, there's a little debate around here if he's the best ever coach but I think he is. I think he'll like your roster.

Billy smith: This gives every team in our division a starting goalie now. In a playoff heavy format like this, Smith's as good as anyone else.

Zigmund Palffy: A good way to finish off your top 6, the guy certainly put up some good offensive #'s during the dead puck era.

Rod Brindamour: Should help form a good 2 way 2nd line with Henri Richard.

Wayne Cashman: I see the Bruin theme is continuing for my old co-GM. Cashman's going to provide loads of grit and glue for your 2nd line.

Ott Heller: Was looking at him for 239 so very good pick and thanks for making my decision a little easier.

Jack Walker: Don't know much about him but reading his bio he seems like he'll be a good player, plays multi positions as well which is always good.

Mats Sundin: he was on my list when I went with mackay. Very good pick. I had him a few yrs. ago. Was very impressed by everything he brought to the game.

Lionel Hitchman: I had him last year, he was a good pick to have, I'm sure he'll be good for your team as well.

Gary Suter: Another guy I had on my list for 239, very good pick, probably more offensive though. You're playing him with Bill White at even strength which is a good idea.

Jiri Holecek: Next to Tretiak he just may be the best European played goalie of all time.

Grant Fuhr: Like Smith the guy is more a playoff goalie than a regular season goalie so getting him a good backup may be key but he'll still be a decent #1 goalie for you.

Anyway those are my thoughts on recent picks. I'm around for when my pick comes up. Hopefully Johnny or whoever picks at 238 pick 1 of the 2 guys I'm looking at to make my decision easier.

I'm going to take a break from my graphic design job to take a player who's so obscure that he doesn't have a bio linked in the master thread. Plus, his nickname was ironic, because who calls a bald guy "baldy" anymore, amiright? Raise a mason jar of craft IPA for Lawrence "Baldy" Northcott!

Northcott - Keon - Dillon?

Should be an effective two-way unit as second lines go. Definitely lacking sizzle though.

Cool, trade complete. Amarillo Gorillas need to round out our second pairing, and to that end, we're picking the original Gas House Gangster: Hap Day

For the record good doing business with you and Day was one of the guys I was considering picking if I kept the pick.

I'm gonna need some time to pick... I'm mulling it over.

In the meantime, if anyone wants to make me an offer for this pick, I'll listen. I'm not actively trying to get rid of it, but being that I'm indecisive, I might be content to just let the field narrow over the next 10 picks and take whoever's left.

... Lionel Hitchman, D

Hitchman's best year came in 1929-30 where he finished runner-up to Nels Stewart for the Hart, trailing Stewart by only 7 points, ahead of 3rd place by 15 points, and ahead of the next best defenseman by 17 points. I think we can easily call this the equivalent of a Norris trophy.

Hitchman was the big, physical, defensive minded partner of Eddie Shore. Hitchman's game allowed Shore to play his rushing style, and he should do the same for Cameron.
Yeah. It's easy to find several hockey history books that praise Hitchman's defensive play. He was often called the best defensive player on the Bruins.

In 1 hour, 21 minutes.

No, we are still on an 8 hour clock. ck26 made his pick at 3:35 PM EST, so 70s has until 11:35 PM EST, roughly 3 more hours.

People are entitled to their clocks. I know we all want to pick (I have the next pick, and trust me, I am ready to go), but it is still only February. And early February at that.
