This caught me off guard a bit.

Drew Doughty team TOI/GP since his rookie season:

Team TOI/GP: 1st (2009) (+2:51), 1st (2010) (+2:22), 1st (2011) (+2:27), 1st (2012) (+2:23), 1st (2013) (+4:05), 1st (2014) (+3:25), 1st (2015) (+5:48), 1st (2016) (+4:58)

Really? You didn't already know this?

Alright after much deliberation and thinking I'm going to complete top line and select Bill Barber, LW
I'll add some two way play, strength, and goal scoring.

Accomplishments:

2x Stanley Cup (1974-75)
NHL 1st All-Star Team (1976)
2x NHL 2nd All-Star Team (1979, 1981)
2x Top 10 in Goals (1976 (5), 1978 (7))
Top 10 in Assists (1976 (9))
5x Top 10 in Goals (Playoffs) (1975 (7), 1976 (5), 1978 (5), 1980 (1), 1981 (4))
Top 10 in Assists (Playoffs) (1975 (5))

That was his sophomore year. He did finish 17th in all star voting in 2009, but impressive rookie defensemen have been known to pick up all star support when their ice time doesn't justify it.

Regina selects Helmut Balderis, RW.

Balderis was an extremely creative, high flying offensive player who had 11 significant USSR seasons (1st, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 3rd, 4th, 4th, 5th, 7th, 9th, 11th in points) and was a complete offensive package (passing, shooting, puck carrying).

I'm saying, you knew he was on the 2nd all-star team, so why would you not know he was his team's #1 defenseman?

Nevermind.

Why do you feel the 5th, 7th, 9th and 11th point finishes are significant? We usually use % metrics, how did he fare against the top finishers in those seasons?

I didn't realize there was a hard cutoff as to what constitutes "significant", and I don't really care considering Balderis has more than the typically acceptable number of top-end seasons to his name.

The 9th and 11th are probably the 65% and 61% in Sturm's bio.

Why do you feel 5th and 7th aren't significant? I mean sure, compared to his best 7 seasons they're not... honestly, what's really significant about that is that they're only his 8th and 9th best seasons.

I just asked a question and you seem to have taken it personally.

I was just asking a question. That's all.

Seems like a steal to me. Compares pretty favourably to Maltsev.

Just less international opportunity. Otherwise really similar.

i don't know if he's a "steal" - he used to be a huge steal, back when he was taken in the 300s, certainly the value differential is less now than it was then, but yes, I think he was the best offensive winger on the board after Dye was taken.

Tkachuk and Balderis were my 2 guesses for those picks. I was very sure about Tkachuk (you need him for your PP), but was less sure on Balderis...2 good picks.

I like KF's Barber pick as well, chemistry-wise a good fit with Beliveau-St. Louis

There goes two of the guys I was gonna pick

wow, talk about a clutch trade on my part. Like I said, I didn't want to entertain the idea of taking someone else for that spot.

And a calculated risk by you, and you lost out, but hopefully picking earlier further down softens the blow.

Tkachuk and Balderis were my 2 guesses for those picks.

Well done! :handclap:

Keith Tkachuk - Doug Gilmour - Guy Lafleur is a nice upgraded recreation/reboot of the line Lafleur had his best years (similar styles as Lafleur's actual linemates, but both better players)

EDIT: I guess Gilmour's a lot more of a playmaker, but Lafleur can do either so it doesn't matter.
