Maybe they'll start to recoup some of their treasured eurosnob fans.

Curious, but what makes a person a eurosnob? Because I know europeans that go to NYC games, and Americans that watch European football that go to NYC games, and we enjoy watching NYC FC and supporting the team all the same. You're implying that some fans are better than others - wouldn't that make you a snob?

A eurosnob is someone who wears a Manchester United Jersey to an MLS game.

A eurosnob is someone who will roll their eyes at a Clint Dempsey jersey in a pickup soccer game.

A eurosnob is someone who will pay more for one ticket to a meaningless Arsenal friendly in New Jersey than full season tickets for their local club.

A eurosnob only follows one of the top 4 leagues in Europe

A eurosnob only follows one of the top 4 teams in the top 4 leagues in Europe

a Eurosnob is someone who genuinely believes that the only way to improve the quality of MLS is to bring in apathetic 37 year old European washouts.

And, finally, a eurosnob is someone who will ignore a local NY club for 19 years, only to jump onto the bandwagon of an expansion team just because it is owned by a big 4 club in Europe, than have the gall to call the original club "inferior."

I don't see anything wrong with wearing a Man United jersey or any other jersey to an MLS game? I'm glad that soccer is growing in America no matter what league the fans enjoy most. Most MLS fans I interact with can appreciate different leagues for what they are and it doesn't stop us from being fans of our local team.

On your last point, what would you say to someone like me who fell in love with the sport two years ago while living in England, and moved back to NYC just as a team started up here? I don't support the club because it's owned by a big team in Europe, I support it because I live in NYC. I've never referred to the Red Bulls as "inferior" and neither have my friends - kind of hard to when you've beaten us every game until yesterday ;)

But my point is, generalizing an entire fan base is not a good look. Even the ones of us who enjoyed European football before supporting our local club. Every fan base has some bad eggs, sure. But I love sports because they're inclusive for all, no matter which league or team or players we support. I get that you probably supported Red Bulls long before I'd ever even heard of Frank Lampard - but that's okay! It's a growing sport in this country and there should be room for all types of fans to enjoy it :)

I wish I had a rooting interest in one of the local MLS teams. I kinda/sorta followed NYRB, but they are more of a NJ team to me, especially since their move to Harrison. Now as a Giants fan that may make me two faced, but....I don't consider them a NJ team. They are really a tri-state team, really, if you think about it. I should be a NYCFC fan but I haven't gotten into them just yet. Now if the Cosmos ever make it to the MLS, long shot now, I'll follow them, since I grew up a Cosmos fan (and a NY Arrows fan in the old MISL).

I guess you could call me a Eurosnob then.

Liverpool is #1, NYCFC is #2.

Germany is #1, the United States is #2. (Although this one is basically negligible)

Clint Dempsey is a good ballplayer :dunno:

I have a friend who has some loose Spanish heritage which makes him feel entitled to put down US soccer and MLS- he's the biggest football/soccer snob out there. He says that he can't stomach MLS as the standard of play is so beyond atrocious. I've been following international soccer since the 2010 world cup (vuvuzelas!!!) and the MLS since 2013 and after seeing the highest level of play I have to say that the MLS is very exciting- the defensive errors and offensive style actually make it quite exciting for me to watch and appreciate.

I wouldn't put down the MLS. It is what it is. The quality is below Europe obviously, just like the KHL compared to the NHL, but to call it unwatchable football is crazy. In fact I think having more than 1-3 good teams like in Spain and Germany is more exciting. At least in England anything can happen, but I just can't get into the Bayernliga or Liga Madriabarca during league play. CL is a different sorry, obviously.

France were laughed out of Marseille the first half and had an embarrassing group stage and are now somehow going to the final.

Not complaining honestly

The first half was alright, but like I've always told you, we're the LA Kings. Hold the ball for 70% of the game, and do **** all with it.

Sure, we've seen the Kings win like that, just like we won two years ago. [Complete the the sudden short bursts of scoring a million goals and curbstomping a team - St. Louis Blues, Brazil] But we've also seen the Kings go out just like Germany went out today.

Griezmann was fun to watch today. The quality he displays and his quickness is real fun to watch. Enjoyed watching him play with atletico throughout the champions league.

True and Portugal very similar. Mediocre group stage just hanging in to tie Hungary and move to knockout with 3 points. Then getting dominated by Croatia and winning on a counterattack late in second ot. Beating Poland in PK's.

Lloyd Sam traded to the Scum. Man, this really sucks. Loved the guy, probably going to see Veron get the starting spot on the right wing there now.

A potential Giroud for Higuain swap would make me *** buckets.

God dammit I hate Giroud so much

In my FIFA 14 Career Mode he became my captain, best player, and team legend as a defensive mid (transition guy, set piece maestro). After that I took an interest in what the real guy is doing and I just love watching him play.

That's also how I became a Liverpool supporter. They signed me in Player Mode and the rest is history.

FIFA is an amazing series. I always liked football but that game took it to the next level for me.

Another strange thing is that I like both Dortmund and Bayern, which is sacrilege I know.

When I picked a team in the German league, I wanted to be different and Bayern was "too easy," plus Liverpool have this alliance with Dortmund. Then again, Bayern is my family's home state back in the old country and much of the National Team plays there, so I can't NOT root for Bayern.

I find that it's actually workable. They only play each other twice a year and when they do, I just accept that Bayern probably wins and don't worry about it

Went to the Palace/Union friendly in Philly last week. Game was okay, 0-0 tie, the Union goalies were the best players on the field, had to make a few nice stops. The attendance was about half full, the guy next to us said the Union didn't promote this game at all, which he couldn't believe because a, "legit team" was coming to play.

The stadium was nice, but in a sketchy part of town. And Philly itself wasn't all that impressive, but it was good to get a night away and if CPFC comes back next summer, we'll be there.
