That's exactly what an appeal to authority is lol. You are appealing to the authority in the matter, assuming they are fair, just and correct, when we have tons examples to the contrary. I don't give a shit what the league calls it when TB or VGK do it, especially when as soon as there was whispers we might, the league said they were going to watch our situation very closely, hinting that it's suddenly a problem for them.
Again, that's not what an appeal to authority is.

The NHL head office decides how the league is run, they are the rule-makers. If the NHL decides that Duncan Keith's cap circumventing contract recapture penalties doesn't apply after a trade to the Oilers, then they don't. If the NHL decides that Neal's goal count will be prorated, then Neal scored 20 goals instead of 19. When they tell the GMs that the LTIR loophole is legal, that is not their opinion because I think they are fair, just, or correct - that is the law of the NHL until they decide otherwise.

I still don’t get it. They have accrued cap from before and they can simply send these players down if they really needed it again, no?
No, because I think the whole time they were on the roster we weren't accruing, and they spent some of the accrued cap space on those 2.

They aren't asking Kane to cheat. They are asking him to stick to the recommended time lines and heal up to 100% before coming back.

The problem is that Evander Kane only cares about Evander Kane. He pulled the same crap last year about being a "fast healer" and lied about playing through pain and being at his best. He would rather come back early on the off chance he feels good and just good enough to play.

He would rather risk getting traded so that he can play the last couple of games on the regular season. In his mind hes getting into game shape so he can prove his worth in the playoffs. He doesn't care what the implications are for the rest of the team.
Way to make shit up

4/5 top hitting teams in the league are not in a playoff spot. Hitting is not indicative of a good team when it means you have the puck less on your stick. The media's already pushing for another Bjugstad/Carrick 2.0 bottom 6 grit trash slow player that doesn't move the needle for this club. That's the problem.

Florida is the top hitting team in the league and they won the cup.

Forechecking is separating player from puck and Florida is a buzz saw to play against in that department.

I’ll take the way Florida plays every day of the week than how we play. We barely get 10 hits a game and most of those are Podkolzin, with our hitting down 40% over last year yet our possession numbers were reported to be the same.

Oilers are a soft milquetoast team primed for a first round exit with its current make up.

Yes. It let us add Klingberg and Kapanen. We let Holloway go so we could add Klingberg…and Kapanen.

Jackson and Bowman need to be fired into the sun.

So Arvy and Henrique also have no trade deals on top of their retirement contracts. Can we end the fake myth about players lining up to play in Edmonton and taking a discount to do so...

We'll see what shakes out at the deadline. But the Summer of Jeff was a disaster and Son of Scotty's bet on cap accrual is teetering. Meanwhile other elite teams turn extra pedigree assets into valuable upgrades while the Oilers turned two rare (for them) NHL ready kids into marginal 2nd and 3rd draft picks. Small and unsteady won't win the Cup playoff grind race.

Should be a fun four days until the Trade Deadline Fairie arrives and maybe or not saves Jeff Jackson and Bowman from themselves.

Escott said Oilers just need to find a doctor who can decide and say Kane won’t be ready until playoffs

Oh yeah they will certainly see all of Tampa Bay Washington and Florida in the playoffs. Oh by the way they were what 1 and 5 against those teams last season and somehow made it to a goal of OT in game 7.
Okay- let’s put it this way. They have sucked balls against the top 10 teams in the NHL. So you think McDavid will break the points record, Bouchard will break it for Dmen, have a record setting PK, win a series again with .833 goaltending (oilers the only team in history to do it), come back from being down 0-3 in a series? BuT ThEy WeRe oNe GoAl AwAY…you think they can replicate all that? Seriously?

They carried us to the Conference final a few years ago and the team is much better now. Our current roster can beat any team in the league over a 7 game series of the goaltending is reliable.
They beat a weak LA team (which they almost lost to) and PDO darlings Calgary. They got curb stomped by their first real
Challenge.

Lol they were top 3 in the league a week and a half ago and you all revert to the world is over mentality sorry if I don't indulge those feelings.

NHL can influence where and how the surgeries are done but the players decide the when. Usually they are eager to get it done.
Even that- NHL doesn’t do that at all. Could you imagine the legal nightmare if something went wrong. NHL would never open themselves up for that

Why aren’t they now? What happened? Oh yeah, they played top contending teams and fell flat.

Don't get me wrong. The Oilers are still a really good team. However they're anchored in the bottom (with other crap goalies) by both two of the worst goalies statistically. If that doesn't get solved before or on TDL, the Oilers won't go far in this year's playoffs. Skinner's lateral movement especially is horrific.

What a great point. You’re right- players aren’t lining up to play in Edmonton for a discount- they were offered favourable contracts. The NMCs were probably what convinced them

Exactly this. I don’t care if they do anything other than a goalie upgrade. Skinner’s numbers have declined every year- and now he is in Campbell/Koskinen territory. The top teams own the oilers and Skinner is rocking a -11 goals saved above expected and an .872 save% because they have the best shooters, usually the best coaches, and have figured out how to beat Skinner. We used to do the same when Jeremy Copal (sp) was here and he would tell the players where to shoot on goalies.
