Just watched the "headbutt". Are some of you for real? This is why soccer is so heavily criticized. Match ejection, sure... but suspending him afterwards??

****ing embarrassing. Soccer needs more physicality like this, not less. Antics like this are made possible because somewhere along the way someone thought it would be a good idea to stop banning pretty much all physical contact in the sport.

Flopping is big because of this, too.

Wish a fight ACTUALLY broke out after this. The rivalry would only get better. Smh.

The match was already over, so in that case I agree that 1 game should have been enough. 4 is a bit absurd.

NYC FC have a nice streak going recently. With Lampard and (maybe?) Pirlo coming over, are the playoffs a possibility?

He was suspended 4 games because of a combination of reasons

Red card = automatic 1 game
that was after yellow card accumulation = 1 game

Then he tried to get to and verbally assaulted (allegedly) the referee in the tunnel after the game.

The 4 wasn't for the headbutt.

Blame FIFA for this

The Brazilian women flop as much as their male counterparts

It's awful to see this. They have talent, but no organization. CBF's fault. Brazilian soccer confederation doesn't care about women's national team at all. Even the men's facilities are not ceded to them, women national league is amateur... Anyway, it was an announced tragedy. The men's situation is going to the same way. CBF is destroying brazilian soccer.

Gameday

Gonna really need to play tough on Japan. They rarely give up the ball when they have it. Need to use our size and speed. Play in behind them. Let Morgan run to the ball.

needs more Kelley O'Hara. definitely needs more Kelley O'Hara.

USWNT is in such an odd state right now. For all things considered, this is a transition tournament, yet, here they are in the championship game.

You've got the old guard like Wambach, Pinoe, Lloyd, Morgan to an extent. And you've got the up and coming players like Bryan, O'Hara, Leroux, Press, etc.. who are capable of the playing time but not getting it this tournament.

They're already calling this USWNT a dynasty... I don't think their run is going to end any time soon.

Has anyone gone to an NYCFC game yet? Where are the best seats? To be honest, the entire arrangement looks atrocious.

I went to the Red Bulls game there and sat in 306 (which isn't open for most regular games) and the view was pretty good. I walked around the stadium and was really surprised by the sightlines. Most main level seats looked like they'd be fine for a game.

The also have a virtual venue on their site too, so you can just check that out.

bleachers in left were behind one of the goals. bleachers in right were kinda midfield. thought both were good places to watch from.

A tale of two tournaments for Lloyd. She was absolutely dreadful in group play. Turnover machine. After that PK, it really turned for her. What confidence to strike that ball from midfield like that.

Great tournament

Having Holiday and Rapinoe suspended for the China game was a blessing in disguise. It forced Ellis to change up the midfield and allowed Lloyd to take a more commanding role.

BTW, Ottawa is a really cool city to visit. Outside of the falls, Niagara Falls is Myrtle Beach. Everyone needs to visit the Hockey Hall of Fame at least once. Driving in Quebec is an adventure, unless you have some working knowledge of French.

Morgan is 26, same age as O'Hara, Press, and Leroux.

it just feels like she's been around forever.

Syd Leroux is actually younger than the two of them. really thought Press was a little younger, too. but Syd is 25 (or turning 25)

and Pirlo to NYCFC confirmed! they should have a celebration during the San Genaro feast.
