I do too.

Though, I think Lehkonen would be a better fit with Mack/Mikko than Burakovsky is if we want to put Landeskog with Kadri and Nichuskin at times. I see no reason why Lehkonen-Kadri-Nichuskin couldn't be a match up line and we keep 9296 together regardless of the situation though.

Landeskog on the 3rd line is laughable.

Please quote anyone on the Habs board comparing Barron to Makar. I'll wait
im being sarcastic with the makar comparisons obviously, but he has now become a blue chip prospect with 1D potential, which is not true. he is a good young prospect but not as good as he has become since he got traded today

Landy needs to play with MacK or he will fall off.

My concern and it's a huge one with the Lehkonen trade is, are they bringing him in as a Nuke replacement next year as well?

Because that will f***ing suck if we lose Val.
We need both Nuke and Lehk next year to isolate some of the younger guys on the roster that we need to produce offense under the cap. So hopefully they are planning to keep both.

I don't even see many people pumping him as a 1D, the consensus is that he has top 4 potential. Which is accurate but no guarantees of course. Anyway, you got a beauty in Lehks

I'm guessing they'll try that down the stretch. If it doesn't work out then come playoffs they might bump Sturm up and Newhook on someone's wing in the middle six. At least they finally have flexibility in the bottom six.

@windycity, make no mistake, i mean no disrespect. Barron is a good prospect, i jus feel like he is being made to look greater than he is. Its one of the reasons i hate the forums, some GM always has to be fleeced in order for the trade to be considered a win. I believe this is a win win for both teams, especially if we can lock in lehk (see what i did there) long-term. So please don't take my sarcasm as disrespect

Wow, that's quite a price to pay. I like Lehkonen, though, and since we're kinda all-in, it's probably a good trade to make today. Still... this one hurts.

My lines would be either of these, you can fill in the blanks. Just keep Burakovsky off the top line.

Nuke - Mac - Rantanen
Landeskog - Naz - Bura
Lehkonen - Newhook - O'Connor

9296
Nuke - Naz - Bura

9296
Lehkonen - Naz - Nuke - Shutdown city

9296
Lehkonen - Naz - Bura
Nuke - Newhook - O'Connor

Good luck guys. I hope Lehkonen can help you get a Cup. He certainly won’t hurt in that regard. He’s a warrior. He won’t really hit, but he’ll fight like a hound for the puck and is really good at killing penalties. Can frustrate you with the golden opportunities he misses, but he seems to be doing a better job of burying goals this season. Regardless, you won’t be disappointed.

So we've got a guy who doesn't do the one thing he's paid to do. Can't wait!

I don't think I agree with you on Barron. Yes, he's a big mobile RHD with some offensive skill, great. BUT, as I've mentioned on here before (I think it was in a conversation with @henchman24 or @S E P H a few weeks ago) there are legit concerns about Barron in the DZ that make me a bit skeptical that he'll reach his ceiling.

To be more specific, in watching all our preseason games this year I noticed that Barron seemed to really struggle a lot with tracking his man in the zone (especially in the crease area) as well as gap control which I found weird considering how good of a skater he is.

I haven't watched much of the Eagles this year but I'd nonetheless guess that he has improved some of those weaknesses as he's received some coaching from Eagles head coach Cronin who has a great track-record of developing NHL Dmen with the Islanders (De Haan, Mayfield, etc) and Colorado (Graves, Timmins), so I'd guess that he still pans into a 2nd pairing guy at the NHL level.

I hope things work out for Barron in Montreal, but with how good and young the Avs blueline is right now I don't think he'll be missed all that much. Especially if we re-sign Manson which I do think Sakic will try to do.

Always enjoy your insight man, appreciate you putting in the effort to respond to those of us that don't watch preseason/AHL games.
