Another Habs player that when the fan base said

We ain't trading him for a 2nd alone, the "pro" scouts on hfboards go, he ain't even worth a 2nd lol

And then he gets a 1st in value by an actual NHL GM and over delivers.

Some 3rd liners are worth a lot sometimes their impact is more than what players like Marner and Barzal give their teams once the regular season is done
Everything I’ve read on HF most all of it rated him as a first

I would be disappointed with both if the term is 3 years. Lock them both down for 4-5 years for whatever it takes. They're the perfect complementary forwards to the Avs top line.

Nuke yes but I don't think I'd ever want to lock up complementary pieces for very low. Just look at compher.

I'm honestly glad we ended up with Lehk over Giroux. We would have paid a big price for 3 months of Claude before he goes and re-signs with Philly. Where with Lehk, he's an RFA so the price doesn't hurt as much since we should be able to bring him back at least a couple more years and he fits this team like a glove.

Well imagine if we signed Bura to six years, we'd be stuck with him. Even Nuke was at the time kinda risky.

There's a reason why we only gave two. Sakic wasn't totally convinced yet.

I think once we have Mack locked up and Toews, we will give long term contracts with lower AVV. Flexibility is great but at a certain point, you have to take that risk.

Lehkonen has been so good and seems to be getting better. Sakic is a god.

I still badly want Nuke signed but Lehkonen does provide some insurance if he walks. Kadri should be the only guy in the top six to walk this summer.
Bura is/was technically in the top 6 too and he's gone.

Sounds like Bednar wants Lehkonen on the 2nd line going forward, so that's probably the Bura replacement right there.

We'll need a damn good 2C to replace Kadri though. Won't be easy to find.

True but I haven’t considered Burky a top six guy for a while now

God I love the first goal so much. After missing the pass into the zone a normal human takes a moment to process "Shit. Maybe I can forecheck to create a turnover." But not Lekohnen. As if this were somehow the plan he's just immediately on two different puck carriers like this is some forechecking fetish dream. And then to also get the deflection. Just beautiful.
