He was hated city wide because he has a knack for being in great scoring position but cant convert at a decent rate. Coupled with a bad offensive team in MTL...

Reality is, Lekhy is an awesome 3rd line and a guy that takes you over the edge with a top 6 like yours.
Sounds like Calvert in 18-19 and Nichushkin in early 19-20.

Yea no, he was hated. Listen to radio and read this board, he was ripped into.
Nah. You are on your own with that.

He was one of the most beloved habs.

There is a huge difference between some individuals and the general consensus among media and fans.

A lot of people doubted he was a top 6 forward but nobody questionned his commitment and work rate.

Colorado added the perfect type of player for a high offensive team. Lehkonen is basically never a negative factor when he's on the ice, always playing hard defense and checking, so when he does score it's an added bonus that usually ends with a win. Glad he's meshing so well with his new team.

Another Habs player that when the fan base said

We ain't trading him for a 2nd alone, the "pro" scouts on hfboards go, he ain't even worth a 2nd lol

And then he gets a 1st in value by an actual NHL GM and over delivers.

Some 3rd liners are worth a lot sometimes their impact is more than what players like Marner and Barzal give their teams once the regular season is done

Lehkonen has been everything that was advertised and more. He was advertised as mini Nuke but he’s actually been better than Nuke in the playoffs

Yeah Nuke almost seems to have lost his top gear. He looks noticeably slower to me. And he's not quite as hounding on the forecheck. He hasn't been bad, but he hasn't really been what we saw in the regular season either.

Lehkonen on the other hand has probably stepped his game up a little bit. And his shot has become a real weapon. Not only on that snipe goal, but a big part of why there was a juicy rebound on the play Binnington got hurt on, was because he really powered a heavy shot through the defenseman's stick and on goal.

My theory on Nuke is that he gives a bigger percentage of his max effort in the regular season than most players, and looks dominant doing it. But when everyone around him ups their effort and compete level in the playoffs, he doesn’t necessarily have much bandwidth left to do the same

Playing with Mack and Mikko will do that. IMO, and I'll keep saying this, I'd go 9296, and put Nuke with Naz and Lehk or Bura, and the way Bura is playing, I'd almost consider putting Newhook in for him. Then I'd play 62/91/13 vs ROR line.

That's possible. He does look better these playoffs than the previous ones...but he's also playing in the top 6 now.

I mean the bar was pretty dang low. But he looks fine so far, but shouldn't be on the top line. He just isn't a top line level player.

I think Nuke Kadri and Lehk is a heck of a 2nd line.

If the Avs can turn Lehkonen into a regular 2nd liner going forward that'd help them a lot. He's a better hockey player than Burakovsky and will be cheaper too.
