What a f***ing trade. I was skeptical at first but wow what a player.
I was over the moon about the trade from the start, but I never anticipated Lehky providing the kind of offense he has so far. A handful of Habs fans were convinced he had untapped offensive potential, and now we're seeing why. Just an unbelievable motor and outstanding intelligence...it really is no wonder how he and Danault carried the Habs to a Cup final with their relentlessness.

Lehkonen, Kakko and Rantanen are training together during the summers.. everyone still going for SC. These guys from Turku are something else.
Also Pajuniemi and Georgiev from Rangers. We could potentially have had Ranta as well, who started with the team this year.

Since these guys are clearly on another level, let's sign and bring over Mikko Lehtonen to be third pair D next year. He was the highest scoring player for Finland's WC winning team. 28 years old, had some NHL games in 20-21.

Lehkonen is a very good player but don't get hyped too much guys. He tends to perform much better in playoffs and in important games. He never was able to sustain that level of play for 82 games in Montreal. He's a little bit like Lars Eller. A guy who will give you 15 goals and 25-35 points in the regular season and will help you a lot in playoffs with his forecheck and grinding while being more than decent defensively.

Maybe he has another gear but i would wait for him to prove it for 82 games before getting too excited. Can he work on a 2nd line for 82 games? If he plays with Kadri and either Rantanen or Nuke yes he can. But finding a Kadri replacement or signing Kadri this summer for it to work next season wont be easy. He's a good insurance policy in case you lose one of Nuke or Bura to be able to sign Kadri this summer though.

Good trade for both teams imo.

oh nooooooo. this is terrrrrrible....

Unlike Montreal, the Avs don't need him to be a driver through an 82 game season. They have plenty of those guys. A role player who shows up when it matters the most is all gravy for the Avs.

Yep. That's another guy I wish we could have made a play for. Can you imagine a Lehkonen-Danault- Nuke line haha. Super happy with the Lehkonen pickup.

If Lehks remains a solid defensive middle six winger able to drive play and contribute offensively from time to time, then he's worth whatever the Avs can sign him for. 2nd line, 3rd line, I don't care, dude has been a phenomenal add. Perfect fit.
Artsi creates a lot of defense with his relentless forecheck preventing the opponents defensemen to make big opening passes leading to a straight attack and if forecheck does not lead to a giveaway - he's transitioning lightning fast towards the defensive zone to help defense with his quick feet. He has a great vision on what to do and where to be at any times and does very few mistakes on the ice. I don't think he will ever be much of a *play-driver*. He is a role player, and a very good one.

^^^ Absolute bullshit. He's a fantastic hockey player night in and night out.

"more than decent defensively" ... that tells you how bullshit this entire post is. Lehks is elite defensively - finding a player who makes the right play 99 times out of 100 with a work ethic like him is very rare.

The reason he "steps it up in the playoffs" is because players are tired after 82 games seasons and hard fought playoff games while Lehkonen could play 3 games a day and give you the same effort level in the 180th minute as the 1st minute. No slowing him down ever.

He has been SO good and I love that Sakic picked up a player with term left. I already want him extended at the first possible opportunity. Even if he doesn't keep generating offense his tenacious play has added an element Colorado has needed for a long time.

I am working on the Edm Col serie for a sports tv channel in MTL and the Lehkonen you see is the same that we saw in MTL. Such a hard working player, excellent IQ and positionning. For me it’s a win win trade for both team. It’s a wonderful trade.

By the way I am cheering for you guys, made my playoffs pool around Mackinnon Makar and Rantanen, choose COL for the cup. Go Avs Go!

I´m a Habs fan who always loved Lehkonen. I was angry when we traded him, especially because I didn’t know who Barron was. I wanted Byram…. I know it was dreaming, but I think Lehkonen was worth it for the perfect fit he would be with you.

yeah, go Avs go!

I hope Barron will be good…

I wish the best for Artturi…
