Confirmed with Link: Artturi Lehkonen to Avs for Justin Barron and 2024 2nd

I don’t think Barron is anything too incredible I may be wrong but he looks like a bottom pairing D. None of our prospects were untouchable other than byram and Newhook. This improves our team today and we needed it

I don't think he's anything incredible either, but he still has potential, all the tools to be a top 4 defenseman, and has good D+1/2 years while being a RHD which are unicorns. Most likely worth at least a low 20s pick.

Lehkonen is worth that for sure. Look what Hagel went for.

Excellent possession numbers on a dogshit team. When you consider he's an RFA at the end of the year and the fact the second round pick won't be making his NHL debut for at least five years if all goes perfectly, I don't think the price is as bad as it first seemed.

The Avs have traded from a position of defensive prospect strength this season (Timmins, Helleson, Barron) and the actual NHL d-corps. remains stacked. Avs got a guy that can play like Nuke for more than one go at the cup.

I really can't complain.

Makes you wonder if Girard or Byram aren't trade bait in the summer for a Top 4 RHD.
Maybe they retain Manson and worry about the RHD thing down the road. I dont wanna part with G unless its for a 2C. Ill die on that hill unless and until Joe finds a 2C this summer to replace Kadri. If Byram gets another concussion I would trade him while he still has any value at that point. Lets hope that doesnt happen.

Top 6 next season:

Landeskog-Mackinnon-Rantanen
Lehkonen-Newhook-Nichuskin (please re-sign him)

Don't even have to acquire a UFA.

Leky could be insurance for losing Nuke or he could also help in keeping Nuke's contract down as well if Nuke really wants to stay here. It gives the Avs a little bit of leverage.
