Value and fit is excellent. It's exactly the kind of trade I'd hope we'd get for Lehkonen and I've been saying it for weeks. NHL ready, puck-moving RD is a huge need. Really looking forward to seeing what he can bring. He's not THE answer, but this is good roster building.

I'm just going to say this;

How great is it to have a GM committing to a direction with a plan in mind and actually doing whatever is necessary to make it happen?

Bergevin would have probably spent the whole weeks and days leading up to the deadline trading Mathieu Perreault for a conditional 7th round pick.
For everything Bergevin was good at this one weakness is why he's not a GM anymore. So refreshing to see the team picking a lane. Haven't seen it since the 09 summer fiasco. It was the wrong lane but at least Gainey picked a lane.

What do you think Lehkonen is worth? This is basically Guhle+2nd. Lehkonen might be a 40pt winger tops.
All I said is he better not f***ing bust. He's a great prospect (although more question marks than Guhle coming up, IMO). And the 2nd is 3 drafts away, I couldn't care less about that. Gorton will probably be gone by then lol

That will shut the whiners up
No. Could have get a bit more. But I like the fact that Barron is a RHD, something Habs badly missed among their crop of youngsters.

But I guess it's gonna be a good news for our bottom-sixers: Dauphin, Pezz, Poehling, Evans, Byron, Perreault, Pitlick and Armia. Some openings for RNH and Ylonen next season perhaps ?

An elite puck mover you say.. Watch for #20

Clearly the best skater in our pool (for a defenseman). He was supposed to go in the top 10 in 2020 but he had health issues all season long.

I wish there is footages on his defensive play.
He doesn't seems to be big on offense.

Why do people praise Gorton ? This is all on Hughes ! That guy is wicked smart.
Because he doesn't speak french, if he was, he would've been our GM .
Gorton and Hughes are great duo.

That's a good return. Would have liked a dman prospect with more offensive upside but still happy.
He's got a 30-35 points potential . But his big assets are the fact that he is a RHD and have some size and mobility.

Barron looked pretty good beside Guhle last year at the WJC, that was a really solid pairing. A good 4th defenseman in the making we got I think.

We need to throw darts at the dart board with the picks and prospects we acquire. Not all will hit. The important thing is we're throwing the darts. Lehkonen was never going to he a top 6 forward or a top 4 D. Barron may.

Like when we needed a C. We went out and got Poehling, KK, and Suzuki. Suzuki hit.

Barron has a higher upside that Guhle. The 2nd round draft choice was just icing on the cake. Great trade.
How do you figure? Barron projects as a good puck moving defenseman who can shut teams down. Guhle projects more as a more complete defenseman.

Of course, Barron could easily end up being better than Guhle.. but Guhle's upside is massive because he's better offensively at the same age.

Barron is amazing and that 2nd can turn into anything management wants,we can trade it for a player or to move up in the draft, its a really good trade i like Lehkonen but some habs fan made it seem like he was special hes a 30 point winger that just last year got scratched a few games hes having a career year this year but also needs a new contract

meh, i thought Guhle was carrying him a lot

I've never been a big fan of Barron but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.. his hockey iq is meh, he has good tools tho.
