Player Discussion Artemi Panarin

Panarin is perhaps the only player on the Rangers that is/was a bonafide all-star that I cannot stand and never warmed up to. Zero killer instinct, perimeter player, doesn't backcheck, doesn't seem to give a crap. Rangers Twitter loves kissing this guy's ass and letting us know what contents are in his daily stool, yet the guy is a ghost when it matters (excluding the obvious Game 7 OT goal vs Pittsburgh). You may not find another player to put up his 90-95 points in the regular season, but at least his departure would open up a spot for our 1OA from 3 drafts ago to move off a checking line.

And this is a petty complaint, but he has one of the stupidest nicknames I've ever heard in professional sports. We've gone from an all-powerful "Moose" to soft and flimsy "bread"

Absolute dog shit again in this game. Pond hockey bullshit doesn't work in the playoffs want regularity. 14.1 percent of the team cap wrapped up into a pp specialist winger that fades in the playoffs. Embarrassing

Amazing how when the opposition figures out to pressure our puck movers we suck? We don't have a contingency plan to pass quick when pressured... these clowns got to this point solely on skill. OMG I hate this coach so much

Literally saved the game when he tied up that devil who was about to receive the puck all alone in front of our net with minutes to spare

If that's the case, move Bread to RD asap. We get rid of Tuba and Panarin becomes the best Dman he has always aspired to be.

Personally I'd rather see Bread play lights out offense and not turn the puck over so much. Leave the back checking to Trocheck.

Exactly. 5 minutes left in the game and 4th line on the ice. Goodrow on the ice when the tying goal is needed with a minute left.

Zero tactical adjustments to the Devils clogging the neutral zone. Here's your system, throw the puck softly towards the slot and win a one on one battle for it. Even if you win 1 out of 5 you get a great chance at it.

Or we can just continue wall humping until the inevitable turnover or shitty wristshot from the point.

Panarin's better when he drives the left side, pulls up and finds the RD trailing the play, especially if it's Fox.

He's at his worst when he stops 5 feet inside of the blue line and decides to fire a full force 60MPH elevated wrist shot / 3 foot high cross ice pass at the centerman or weak side winger that they literally can never handle.

Long story short, predictable offense

At least Mika showed up last year.

They've both still got time, but another no show from Panarin should book his ticket out of town.

Better ways to spend 11.6.
I liked his game 2 years ago. His playing style is too predictable, doesn't suit playoff hockey.

Agreed. Mika gets a pass based on his past history and clutch play overall. I don't think he's done yet this year, but regardless, he plays the game the right way. Just having a disappointing series.

Panarin on the other hand is completely useless if he isn't putting points on the board. And I am not talking about seconday assists on the PP either. You just don't win gritty hockey games with a player like Panarin at the core of your team. The games they won in the playoffs last year were in spite of him. The Game 7 OT winner is great, but that is the last eventful moment for him in a Rangers jersey. Heck, Matteau scored the biggest goal in our recent history, and went on to be completely irrelevant for the rest of his career as a Ranger. These things just happen.

In a perfect world, we get rid of this guy and he waves his NMC, and see if Laf makes the jump or does end up being a bust. But it is a gamble you need to take with a 1OA sitting on the 3rd line after 3 years of being on the team.

We can go crazyland here. Panarin for bobrovsky and some assets and we buyout Bob. Saves us 5+mil on the cap. Never will happen but it's time to start thinking of how this guy is gone even w the nmc. Reinhart lomberg and draft picks? Just get him gone already. Yes I'm irrational at this point. I've had it with panarin and his shinny.

This is a terrible idea. You can achieve the same thing by retaining 50% on his contract and getting an absolute ransom of futures for him if you need to retain big money to deal him.
